Your support has already made a big difference in our daily learning. We use the dry erase boards and circle tools during lessons for quick check-ins, solving problems, and sharing ideas. These tools help all students participate, show their thinking, and stay engaged in a hands-on way.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the new materials, they were very excited, especially about the fidget toys. At first, many students wanted to play with them, but they quickly realized how much the fidgets helped them focus. After our upcoming break, we will begin a new unit on poetry and literary terms. Students will use the dry erase boards to explore poems, practice new vocabulary, and reflect on their learning, while the fidgets continue to support focus. Thank you again for supporting our classroom and helping our students succeed.","fullyFundedDate":1759356936399,"projectUrl":"project/student-growth/9773485/","projectTitle":"Student Growth","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Stephens","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9805373"},{"teacherId":176244,"projectId":9772413,"letterContent":"Thank you very much for your generous donations of arts & craft and laboratory supplies. My students were thrilled with the various activities we were able to complete with the supplies like construction paper, modeling clay, colored pencils and markers, pipe cleaners, and suturing pads. The most memorable project that we completed during our unit on the integumentary system was the suturing lab - all thanks to the materials provided by Donors Choose! For the lab, students first practiced \"stitching\" an injury with the pipe cleaners and string provided by your donation. After the practice round, they used the medical-grade sutures, artificial skin pad, and suturing needle to try out their suturing skills on the simulated skin injuries. The activity was a hit - it helped wrap up our key concepts on the layers of the epidermis & dermis, along with providing students with technical skills practice they might need if they pursue careers in health or medicine.\r\n\r\nNext semester, we will continue to use the arts & craft supplies as we cover topics like the muscular and nervous system. With these topics, students will build models of the contraction cycle and nerve pathways. The donated craft supplies will give them hands-opportunities to showcase their understanding of course content. Again, thank you for providing our class with materials to keep up student interest and engagement in the sciences.","fullyFundedDate":1759203334707,"projectUrl":"project/full-steam-science-technology-en/9772413/","projectTitle":"Full S.T.E.A.M. A new camera is incredibly expensive, and it has already made some significant changes to our photography department. My students are always excited to use it, and when they're passionate, as you know, that's when the real magic of learning happens.\r\n\r\nThis technology helps my students learn because they can be hands on with the camera. When I teach them about storytelling through images, they can actually try out techniques for themselves, using technology that isn't in need of updating.\r\n\r\nA new camera took up the bulk of the funds from this project, but I was also able to request an audio recorder pen and a lot of red pens for proofreading. As a high schooler, interviewing peers and adults can be incredibly nerve-wracking, and prior to this student reporters would use their phone to record an interview. The recorder pen is useful because it is small and unobtrusive, so my reporters can focus on getting their quote, and their interviewee can focus on talking. It also has speech to text capabilities, which means that students can get extra help with their transcriptions, resulting in faster and more accurate stories.\r\n\r\nI am able to accomplish so much in my teaching because of this new technology. Running a newspaper teaches students so many skills like collaboration, effective communication, and problem-solving, and these tools help writers, photographers, and editors get their work done efficiently and thoroughly.","fullyFundedDate":1759446612623,"projectUrl":"project/capture-the-moment/9772518/","projectTitle":"Capture the Moment!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Reyes","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9805604"},{"teacherId":8364602,"projectId":9772941,"letterContent":"This laptop has become an essential tool for hands-on learning in our engineering programs. Students use it to slice and prepare 3D-printed parts for FIRST Robotics and Science Olympiad competitions, allowing them to turn their designs into real, functional components. It has also supported engineering students who designed molds for sustainable fishing lures, helping them apply design and manufacturing skills to real-world environmental challenges.\r\n\r\nWhat excites students most is the ability to see their ideas become physical objects. The laptop's performance allows students to quickly modify designs, test new ideas, and learn through iteration without delays. This process has helped students better understand engineering concepts while building confidence in problem-solving and technical skills.\r\n\r\nSeveral students have taken initiative beyond assigned projects by using the laptop to independently set up and begin programming a small CNC router. Teaching themselves how to configure and operate advanced equipment has been empowering, showing them that they are capable of using professional-grade tools and thinking like real engineers.","fullyFundedDate":1759446391669,"projectUrl":"project/fueling-future-engineers-laptop-for-3d/9772941/","projectTitle":"Fueling Future Engineers: Laptop for 3D Printing, Robotics, and Design","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Sandvig","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8364602_orig.png?crop=272,272,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1661291529418","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mhsscilearningcenter"},{"teacherId":9374555,"projectId":9773185,"letterContent":"Mahalo for your generous support of Mililani High School Students in Action.
