Our school is a Project-Based Learning school. Students in their 11th and 12th grade year chose an "Academy" to join. The students in our academy are hard-working "entrepreneur" types. They are generally high achievers who try to bring their "A" games to any assignment and/or project. One of our academy's biggest projects is Market Day. Market Day is the Business Academy's annual project. Students simulate being an entrepreneur in order to connect class lessons to real life business situations. Products range from snacks and drinks to entrees and desserts and are chosen by the students themselves (and approved by the teachers). Students create, market and sell their products. They learn about keeping food sanitary, customer service and basic accounting skills. We especially focus on the four "P's" of marketing (product, price, place, and promotion). This "Quad D" project combines skills taught in Social Studies, English and Business Management.
