We write connections to the vocabulary in our mini notebooks. We play vocabulary games with the words in our notebook and even use it as a resource on our vocabulary quizzes. \r\nYour donation has helped create a classroom where students look forward to word study. Manipulative and games have a home and and the crayons and markers now have an organized carrying case. This project has transformed the music room and now it is a space filled with joy instead of clutter. Our students in grades 3-5, along with our after school choir, put on an incredible performance of I Love Broadway. It was the first musical our school has performed, but it certainly won't be the last! \r\n\r\nFourth graders wore newsies caps for Seize the Day, third graders were lost boys with bandanas for I Won't Grow Up, and our individual actors and actresses used sunglasses, feather boas, and more to tell the story of what it's like on Broadway. \r\n\r\nThe show was a huge hit and their experience would not have been the same without you! They worked endlessly to prepare, and were feeling very stressed about it. When I shared that there are people who care to support them who do not even know them, they were shocked and honored. \r\n\r\nThese materials helped us to push through the last stretch of testing and preparation. The line readers were a tremendous help during small group instruction. The desk bands were a great support for my students who need to move around in order to focus. We were also quite literally out of pencils, so they were a tremendous help. The mouses and pencil grips were very exciting for the students who'd been asking for them or had been struggling to use their trackpad or hold their pencil correctly.\r\n\r\nI am also very honored to have your support. My class did phenomenal on the test, and your support helped us to get there. The pencils were so fun to use, with sharp points and fresh erasers. The cookies gave the students an opportunity to celebrate their hard work. These racks have made our larger ukuleles easily accessible so we can utilize them in the classroom much easier than before. Students can safely and easily retrieve and return the instruments and having the instruments displayed this way helps me with the flow of class (since music class only meets 40 minutes once a week - this is very important!) \r\n\r\nUkulele is a big part of our music program, and our Ukulele Club is even participating in a concert with the Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain this upcoming weekend! These items may seem small, but they made a huge impact on our performance. \r\n\r\nThe flashlights were used for a song called \"Winter Lights\". My fourth graders sang this song and we used the flash lights to shine on the ceiling of the gymnasium to create the illusion of \"winter lights\". We used this song to open the concert and it was a huge hit! One of our district fine arts supervisors attended the concert and he was very impressed! He has raved about this performance every time I have seen him since then. \r\n\r\nThe jingle bells were used during the kindergarten performance of \"Jingle Bells\". Our school has a very large Spanish speaking population, so we performed part of the song in Spanish as well. He was in first grade at the time. When we walked out of the office, his head and neck snapped up and around as if it was his first time seeing anything at all. He was amazed at the sights of the wonderful world around him. \r\n\r\nInterestingly, the reaction was much the same from our students when they plugged their mouse into their Chromebooks. There was an instant smile on their faces as they worked through the software platforms we use to get extra practice in Language and Math. The third graders had to take a practice Indiana IREAD test as well. The mouse made a significant impact. I did not hear moans and groans about toggling between and among drop down menus. They were able to easily zoom text and mark textual evidence that went along with questions.
