Your kindness has made a bigger impact on our 6th graders than you may realize. The students (and their parents!) were so excited and amazed that we were able to provide each student with their own accordion file and canvas bag. It was especially meaningful that we were able to create an iron-on logo for the bags that represents our 6th grade vision, mission, and goals. Seeing the students carry their bags with pride has been such a wonderful reminder of what your generosity has made possible.\r\n\r\nOne of the greatest benefits has been helping our students become more organized and prepared. Although we are still part of an elementary school, we run our 6th grade much like a middle school, with students switching classes for their core content. This means our students have to be responsible for keeping track of their own materials throughout the day.\r\n\r\nThe accordion files have made this responsibility so much easier. Students now have one place to keep their papers, assignments, and other important materials. Several students have told me how difficult it was to manage multiple folders in the past and how much easier it is to have everything organized in one place. They are learning to take ownership of their materials and to think ahead about what they will need for each class.\r\n\r\nThis may seem like a small thing, but these are important life skills. We are not simply teaching students how to keep their papers organized. we are helping them develop habits of responsibility, preparedness, and independence that they will need as they move on to middle school, high school, college, careers, and adulthood. Learning to prepare for the day, keep track of important materials, and take responsibility for their belongings are skills that will serve them far beyond our classroom.\r\n\r\nThe accordion files have also been a wonderful help to families. Because students take their files home each night, parents can easily see what their children are working on and know that important papers and assignments are less likely to be left behind at school. It gives students the opportunity to practice being responsible for their own materials while also giving families some peace of mind.\r\n\r\nThe canvas bags have been equally helpful. Since our students rotate between classes and our two 6th grade classrooms are not located next to each other, students need a simple way to carry everything they need. Their bags allow them to easily transport their accordion file, pencil bag, and notebooks from class to class without having to juggle everything in their arms or carry a bulky backpack throughout the day.\r\n\r\nMore importantly, these supplies have helped our students feel prepared. There is something powerful about a student walking into class knowing that they have what they need, that their materials are organized, and that they are ready to learn. We are helping them build confidence along with good habits.\r\n\r\nThank you for investing in our students. Your generosity has given them more than an accordion file and a canvas bag. You have given them tools to become more organized, responsible, independent, and prepared for the next steps in their education and in life. We are so grateful for the opportunity to help our students develop these skills, and we truly appreciate the part you have played in making it possible.\r\n\r\nThank you for believing in our students and for helping us prepare them not only for the next school year, but for the future ahead of them!","fullyFundedDate":1778247071988,"projectUrl":"project/equipping-for-excellence-essential-orga/9996510/","projectTitle":"Equipping for Excellence: Essential Organization for 6th Graders","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Van Beekum","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp1412580_orig.jpg?crop=2132,2132,x435,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1643826262924","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrs-vanbeekum"},{"teacherId":7312265,"projectId":9563050,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for funding our project and providing us with vertical whiteboards, which are transforming our classroom into a vibrant, engaging, and collaborative thinking space for students.
