Students will use items to expand their ability to communicate with staff and peers. The use of pragmatic skills is essential to build relationships. Speech and language skills are necessary to express their needs and ideas. Having good communication skills allows students to fully participate in social and academic opportunities in the general education setting. The items requested are specific to some IEP goals but are also very versatile. For example, one can use LEGO bricks to create activities that help build; syntax, vocabulary, phonological awareness, and following directions. Zingo can be used as a reinforcer during therapy sessions and build phonological awareness. The Out Fox game help teach teamwork with a peer while learning how to problem-solve.
