Students learned that illegal logging was part of the cause. \r\n Then I read a book about wood. Because of your support, students in my classroom are reading with more engagement and self-awareness. The reading nook with the fairy lights, rug, and cozy green chair is everyone's favorite place to read in the classroom. The color-coded bins allow students to easily locate books at their level. The headphones allow students to listen to books and stories on their laptops, and complete lessons around phonics, vocabulary, and comprehension. The impact? All students in my classroom are making growth in reading. \r\n\r\nWhat's next? Though my students are making considerable gains in literacy, there are still many students who are reading significantly below grade level. It's challenging for them to find books that they can read independently and practice the skills we learn in their reading intervention group. Additionally, I have a few students who still haven't found a book or genre that \"hooks\" them, and struggle to stay engaged. To ensure that everyone is growing, I hope to purchase more texts that match students' skill levels and interest. \r\n\r\nIf you're interested in continuing to support my classroom, I'll keep you updated with future projects.
