They have been researching like crazy about how each habitat should looked and how the animals they picked would live and survive in the habitat. The excitement was immediate when students first explored the tubs. They eagerly picked up the miniatures, identified objects they recognized, and began making connections between letters and sounds. Hearing students proudly say things like, \"Apple starts with A!\" and \"Yo-yo starts with Y!\" showed just how meaningful these hands-on experiences are for developing early literacy skills.\r\n\r\nWe use the alphabet tubs during small group instruction, literacy centers, and independent exploration. Students sort objects by beginning sounds, match miniatures to uppercase and lowercase letters, play memory and vocabulary games, and work collaboratively to discuss and compare objects. The concrete materials help make abstract concepts more accessible, especially for our young learners who benefit from touching, seeing, and manipulating objects as they learn. The hard-to-find miniatures, such as the igloo, X-ray, quilt, and yo-yo, have sparked wonderful conversations and expanded students' vocabulary in authentic ways.\r\n\r\nBecause of your support, our students are building stronger letter-sound knowledge, vocabulary, and confidence as emerging readers and writers. As we continue our literacy journey, we will use these resources to deepen phonics instruction, strengthen oral language skills, and encourage students to make meaningful connections between spoken and written language. Thank you for helping create joyful learning experiences that will have a lasting impact on our classroom and our young learners.","fullyFundedDate":1765722357907,"projectUrl":"project/alphabet-adventures-hands-on-learning-f/9921120/","projectTitle":"Alphabet Adventures: Hands-On Learning for Every Sound","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Traks","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7059002_orig.jpg?crop=2320,2320,x0,y363&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1598367004350","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7059002"},{"teacherId":5775726,"projectId":10089115,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for supporting our classroom technology project and helping ensure my students can continue learning without interruption.\r\n\r\nTwo of the most frequently used and most often broken items in our classroom are computer mice and headphones. This hands-on project provided an excellent opportunity for deep research into the various factors that contribute to an animal's survival and overall well-being within its environment. \r\n\r\nAs part of this experience, the students took a field trip to a local zoo, where they engaged in critical discussions about the ethics of keeping animals in captivity. This visit sparked thoughtful debates and diverse opinions among the students, enriching their understanding of animal welfare and conservation.\r\n\r\nThe success of this project-based learning initiative was made possible by the generous donations from our community, which provided the necessary resources and materials. These contributions played a crucial role in fostering the students' creativity and enhancing their learning experience as they embarked on this meaningful exploration of habitats.
