They couldn't wait to start shopping, selling, and role-playing together. We turned our classroom into a little marketplace where students use play money to budget, make choices, and practice their math facts in real time.\r\n\r\nOne of my favorite moments was watching a group of students set up the store shelves and then eagerly take turns being the cashier. They were practicing adding and subtracting totals without even realizing they were doing math—it felt like play to them, but it was powerful learning in action.\r\n\r\nYour generous support made this possible. Because of you, my students are learning important life skills like counting money, problem-solving, and working collaboratively. They're also building confidence as they take on \"real-world\" roles in the classroom.\r\n\r\nThe next step for us is connecting this activity to our math lessons on place value, addition with regrouping, and even word problems. We're also planning to expand the grocery store into our writing block, where students will create advertisements and shopping lists.\r\n\r\nThank you for giving my students this opportunity to learn in such an engaging and meaningful way. Your gift has brought joy, excitement, and hands-on learning into our classroom—we are so grateful!","fullyFundedDate":1757109159487,"projectUrl":"project/classroom-grocery-store/9657883/","projectTitle":"Classroom Grocery Store","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Martinez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9129054_orig.jpg?crop=2400,2400,x0,y304&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1690868264831","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrs-carolinamartinez"},{"teacherId":9129054,"projectId":8923557,"letterContent":"I want to express my deepest gratitude towards your selfless act of donating our classroom set headphones. It made our class so warm and inviting. The kids love the rotating pen organizer. Our classroom boards are trimmed in a fun way and highlight all the wonderful work we do in class. I wish I could share our classroom boards birthday calendar display. It looks so cool. The kids always love going up there to see who has a birthday coming up. The teacher planner is a great way for me to stay organized throughout the year, thank you.","fullyFundedDate":1723770362959,"projectUrl":"project/welcoming-students-for-the-new-school-ye/8533790/","projectTitle":"Welcoming Students for the New School Year","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Lopez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp5142950_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1517297685704","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5142950"},{"teacherId":5142950,"projectId":8332144,"letterContent":"These storage bins are amazing! Our books are so well organized and easy to access. The snap and build phonics and sight word tower have been a great addition to our stations. The practice journals are great for our morning bell work. We are able to practice skills that my ELLs really need practice with. It is great for them to work on independently.","fullyFundedDate":1715100141723,"projectUrl":"project/leveled-library-and-bridging-the-gap/8332144/","projectTitle":"Leveled Library and Bridging the Gap","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Lopez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp5142950_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1517297685704","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5142950"},{"teacherId":5142950,"projectId":7626780,"letterContent":"These materials were amazing. We didn't get to use them until this past fall. The kids loved it and were so engaged. They had a great time designing and decorating the masks. The stickers were a hit. It was great to acknowledge great classroom behavior with stickers. The fusion beads were so cool. They did take a while but students really had fun designing and creating the pieces. The tablets are a great tool for active engagement. Students do like to draw on them as well.
