My students love the new addition of the gong. It has already been put to use quite a few times and is being used during our spring concert next month. When the gong first arrived, my students reacted with more excitement than they ever have for a Donors Choose project. The size and the sound of the instrument was intriguing to them. When striking the gong, it rings for a long time. My students love to try and clean up at the end of class and quietly get in line before they can't hear the gong ringing anymore. It is nice to have the gong as my band has played several pieces in the past calling for a gong but we didn't have one. This instrument will last forever and be a forever part of the school program. One other fun thing that we will use the gong for is at the end of the year, the school does a gong show with the whole student body. It will be nice to have a real gong instead of a cardboard cut out and digital sound. Once again, thank you so very much.","fullyFundedDate":1769178068095,"projectUrl":"project/boom-our-band-needs-a-gong/9931033/","projectTitle":"Boom! I wanted to share the impact this gift is already having on our students.\r\n\r\nWhile many people use technology at home, the way it supports learning in a school setting can look a little different. This printer has become an essential tool for the social-emotional work I do with students. I'm now able to print games, curriculum, handouts, and visual signs that help students regulate and control their emotions—all in full color. The difference between black and white and color is significant. The color materials are clearer, more engaging, and help students focus on the strategies rather than struggling to interpret the visuals.\r\n\r\nThe students are genuinely excited about the new materials. When I introduce an activity printed in color, their interest levels rise immediately. They are more engaged and willing to dive into the work, which makes a huge difference in their participation and their ability to practice these important skills.\r\n\r\nThank you again for making this possible. Our upper grade students all play band instruments, but they belong to the school. Many students save up all their good behavior points and participation points so they can \"purchase\" an instrument of their own. Not only do they get to play this instrument in class if they wish, but it is theirs to keep, even once they move on from our elementary school. Many will continue in music because they love it and have an instrument at home to practice on. This is significant for any music student, but for the students in our school, who are sometimes prevented from continuing in music because of the cost, it is priceless.\r\n\r\nI wish that I could include video and audio of the students playing these clarinets and trombone. You would be impressed at how much they learn and the progress they make when they have their own instrument.
