Every music class is in need of instruments for the students to learn to play music on. Adding the 8-note diatonic bell sets to my classroom will give the students a chance to learn a new instrument and the skills required to play it. The colored system in the bell set aligns with other musical instruments the students are already familiar with. Students need to ability to write and create music, not just play music already written on a page. With the use of dry erase boards, my students will have the ability to draw and create their own rhythms, draw music symbols, learn how to take rhythmic dictation, and express themselves in a creative way. I feel strongly that music ties into math, reading, and other subjects and that the students can learn to make connections to these subjects through the use of writing. Without use of the whiteboards, a large amount of paper would need to be used. All the students in the school will have the opportunity to use these materials throughout the school year.
