With the new materials, students have been creating \"Literacy Kits\" that include a book, a student-written story, and a handmade bookmark to share with younger readers across our campus. These resources have allowed my students to see reading as more than just a classroom skill—it's a way to connect with and serve others.\r\n\r\nOne of our favorite projects has been preparing reading kits for our Pre-K classes. My students used the new books and writing materials to read stories, discuss them in groups, and then write their own versions with illustrations to gift to younger students. Seeing the pride in their faces as they read their stories aloud and shared them was truly inspiring. It gave them a real sense of leadership and purpose through literacy.\r\nWhen the materials arrived, the classroom buzzed with excitement! My students immediately began brainstorming ways to use the books and supplies to help others learn to love reading, too. They were eager to dive into the stories, plan their own book projects, and take ownership of how these resources could make a difference beyond our classroom walls.\r\n\r\nOur next step is to expand our \"Readers Give Back\" project by creating more Literacy Kits and hosting a \"Read to Lead\" day, where my students will partner with younger classrooms to share stories, model reading strategies, and encourage a love for books. These experiences are helping my students develop confidence, empathy, and a lifelong understanding that reading can be a powerful way to build community.","fullyFundedDate":1750434041690,"projectUrl":"project/hear-us-read-watch-us-lead/9300984/","projectTitle":"Hear us read, watch us lead!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Hayes","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp4971118_orig.jpg?crop=731,731,x0,y158&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1619617786136","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/4971118"},{"teacherId":4971118,"projectId":9305588,"letterContent":"I want to sincerely thank you for your generous donation to our classroom incentive project. Because of your support, we were able to add new prizes and a student-favorite claw machine that has completely transformed the way we celebrate student success.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the claw machine, their faces lit up with joy and disbelief. One student shouted, \"This is better than Chuck E. Cheese!\" It immediately became a centerpiece in our room—not just visually, but as a symbol of what hard work and positive behavior can earn.\r\n\r\nWe use the claw machine and incentives as part of a reward system that aligns with our classroom goals. Students earn tokens by meeting academic, social, and behavioral milestones. For example, during our recent math fact fluency challenge, students who met their goal were invited to try their luck at the machine. One student, who had been struggling with motivation, worked consistently for two weeks just to earn her turn—and the pride she felt when she succeeded was unforgettable.\r\n\r\nThe next step for our class is to integrate this system into an ongoing student-led project where students will help manage the incentive process. They'll track progress, suggest new prizes, and even help with inventory—turning this into a leadership and responsibility opportunity.\r\n\r\nThanks to you, we've created more than a reward system—we've created a classroom culture that values effort, celebrates growth, and makes learning feel magical.","fullyFundedDate":1746737668487,"projectUrl":"project/unlock-the-loot/9305588/","projectTitle":"Unlock the Loot!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Hayes","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp4971118_orig.jpg?crop=731,731,x0,y158&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1619617786136","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/4971118"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_15653","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":842,"numTeachers":43,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":29,"percentWhite":1,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":66,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"19.6:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":46.0,"schoolId":15653,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Lula Belle Goodman Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Lula Belle Goodman Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/texas/fort-bend-independent-school-district/lula-belle-goodman-elementary-school/15653"}
