Students are using them during transitions, small-group instruction, and independent work time to help regulate their bodies and stay focused. One meaningful moment happened during a group lesson when a student who typically struggles to remain seated used a sensory tool and was able to stay engaged for the entire activity. Seeing students independently choose materials that help them feel calm and ready to learn has been incredibly rewarding.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the materials, their excitement was immediate and genuine. There were big smiles, curious hands reaching out, and lots of happy exploration. Some students gravitated right away to specific items that met their sensory needs, while others took their time observing before trying them out. Overall, the classroom felt calmer and more welcoming, and the students clearly felt supported and understood in that moment.\r\n\r\nThanks to our donors, these materials are helping students build important self-regulation and communication skills that will support them throughout the year. Our next steps include teaching students how to independently select and request sensory tools that best meet their needs during lessons and transitions. As we continue working on our current classroom goals, students will use these resources to increase focus, reduce anxiety, and participate more fully in learning activities. Your generosity is making a meaningful difference in our students' daily success and well-being.","fullyFundedDate":1769177520841,"projectUrl":"project/sensory-items-for-an-autistic-support-cl/9950010/","projectTitle":"Sensory Items for an Autistic Support Classroom","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Harris","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10377999"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_88968","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":428,"numTeachers":41,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":5,"percentWhite":84,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":1,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"10.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_SMALL"},"inStateSupporters":76.8,"schoolId":88968,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Logan Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Logan Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/pennsylvania/altoona-area-school-district/logan-elementary-school/88968"}
