Right now, my second grade students are busy reading bees, seated in rigid, uncomfortable chairs at their desks. Even though they are not in complete comfort, they put forth their best effort and continue to increase their reading stamina. I am so proud of them! If they were afforded the opportunity to sit in comfortable, motivating seating at various places around the room, they could concentrate and relax while allowing their independent reading to take them to unbelievable places. The floor seats and bean bags will encourage more learning, better focus, and opportunities to meet unique needs, hitting all of the multiple intelligences. The possibilities are endless!
