Using the new syringes and beakers, students created small 'leaf discs' from fresh spinach. By using the new lamps to expose these discs to different colors of light, students were able to measure real-time chemical changes. As the leaves performed photosynthesis, they produced oxygen gas; we tracked the success of the reaction by timing how quickly the oxygen bubbles caused the leaf discs to float to the surface. This hands-on experiment allowed students to see a complex biological process in action!\r\n\r\nThank you for believing in the importance of science education.
