These materials are used throughout the school year in reading, writing, math, science, and social studies to help students actively engage in their learning. Students are able to practice skills in interactive ways, receive immediate feedback, and participate in activities that build both independence and confidence.\r\n\r\nOne special highlight from this year was during our \"Patterns in the Sky\" science unit. Students used black cardstock to create their own constellation art. They designed creative constellations using images of themselves in different poses—some crouched like a cat, others standing like a ninja or striking imaginative shapes in the sky. This activity helped bring science to life in a fun and personal way while reinforcing their understanding of patterns in the night sky.\r\n\r\nAcross the year, these supplies have supported learning in every subject and have helped create a classroom environment where students can learn by doing, creating, and exploring. From literacy centers to math practice to creative science projects, these materials are an essential part of our daily instruction.\r\n\r\nWe are deeply grateful to all of you for investing in our students and helping make everyday learning more engaging, interactive, and meaningful. These folders have made a big difference in helping students take ownership of their learning materials and feel confident about where to find and store their work.\r\n\r\nYou also helped us purchase sheet protectors for our many reusable learning tools. These have become an essential part of our daily instruction in both math and reading. By placing printed resources on cardstock into sheet protectors, students are able to use whiteboard markers to interact with the materials again and again. This has made learning more hands-on, engaging, and sustainable, while also reinforcing key skills through repeated practice.\r\n\r\nIn addition, your support provided name badge stickers, which were especially helpful during our exciting first-grade field trips. Students proudly wore their name stickers as we explored new places in our community, including a trip to the zoo, a visit to the lake to release rainbow trout, and a joyful experience watching a children's theater performance of their favorite character, Pete the Cat. These experiences helped students connect classroom learning to the real world in meaningful and memorable ways.\r\n\r\nWe are so grateful for your investment in our classroom. Thanks to donors like you, both first-grade classes were able to participate in another unforgettable experience focused on trust, perseverance, communication, and working together.\r\n\r\nThroughout the day, students engaged in a variety of challenges that encouraged them to think creatively, support one another, and step outside of their comfort zones. One of their favorite activities was the wooden platform challenge. Students worked together to see how many classmates they could balance on a small platform by holding on to one another and trusting their teammates. At first, many students thought only a few children would fit. Through collaboration, encouragement, and problem-solving, they were amazed when they successfully fit 12 first graders on the platform! The excitement and pride they felt after accomplishing something they initially thought was impossible was truly inspiring.\r\n\r\nAnother memorable lesson came from a simple video about baby ducks trying to climb a set of stairs to reach their mother. Mr. Nettell encouraged students to \"be the baby duck\" by taking risks, persevering through challenges, and never giving up when something feels difficult. This message resonated deeply with our students and became a phrase they continued to reference long after the program ended.\r\n\r\nExperiences like these help students develop skills that extend far beyond academics. They learn to trust one another, communicate effectively, embrace challenges, and build confidence in themselves and their classmates. While every activity was meaningful, one challenge stood out as a favorite among many students: the jump rope challenge.\r\n\r\nAt first, many students were nervous about running under a moving jump rope. They were asked to take risks, trust themselves, and support one another as they worked independently, with partners, and eventually as a whole class. What seemed impossible at first became achievable when students learned to encourage one another and work together toward a common goal. Through determination and teamwork, the entire class successfully made it through the jump rope challenge. The pride and excitement they felt were incredible to witness.\r\n\r\nExperiences like these help students build confidence, develop resilience, and learn the importance of supporting others.
