My students all love going to the school library and are so excited to show each other the new books they discover each week. However, when students go home many don’t have books, which they can read or someone who is able to read the books sent home. As with many schools across California, our school is facing budget cuts making it difficult to provide students with the supplies they deserve.As young thinkers and developing readers having fun, up to date, child friendly books at home reinforces this development. With your support I would like to present my students with the resources and books they need to feel successful and continue to foster the love of reading. They have been learning their letters and we are fast approaching into independent reading. Gifting my students with text that they can read with their parents will help close the learning gap in which all students can have books to read at home. Books are just one way in which we can create a positive change toward at home literacy. The workbooks will be provided as a review and practice of our phonics. With these books students will be able to practice their fluency, phonics skills, and overall become better readers. These books will mean a lot to my students in many more ways than I can express. Thank you for your support.
