These new books have brought so much joy and excitement to our students. In Transitional Kindergarten, books help children build early literacy skills like learning letters and sounds, growing vocabulary, making predictions, and understanding how stories work. Just as importantly, they help children develop a love of reading.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom is a special part of each day. We gather for read alouds, talk about the pictures and characters, and practice sharing our ideas with one another. During choice time, students love selecting books to explore on their own or with a friend. Many are already beginning to retell stories using the pictures and repeated phrases.\r\n\r\nSome of our quieter students have really come alive with these new books, joining discussions and asking to read favorites again and again. Your generosity is helping create joyful readers and a warm classroom community. Your generosity made an immediate and meaningful impact on my students. Because of your donations, we were able to dive right into an exciting social studies art project—creating whale sharks out of cardboard while learning about Eugenie Clark and Yayoi Kusama. For many students, this was their first time working with these materials and tools, making the experience even more special.\r\n\r\nStudents had the opportunity to strengthen their fine motor skills while expressing their creativity in new ways. They took great pride in their work, and their finished projects will be displayed for parents and the entire school community to enjoy. The excitement didn't stop in the classroom—many students went home talking enthusiastically about using cardboard cutters and are eager to continue creating.\r\n\r\nYour support has sparked curiosity, confidence, and creativity in my students. The new dolls, dollhouse furniture, mirror, and wooden trays for our discovery table have quickly become some of our students' favorite materials. We've been using them to explore storytelling, problem-solving, and cooperative play. One of our favorite moments so far was watching a small group of students create an entire \"community\" in the dollhouse, complete with families, shops, and even a school. As they played, they discussed sharing, kindness, and how to help one another, turning simple play into meaningful social learning.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the new materials, their faces lit up with excitement and curiosity. They immediately began organizing the furniture, naming the dolls, and experimenting with how the mirror reflected their creations. The discovery table has become a constant hub of exploration. Students use the wooden trays and our new rainbow cubes to sort, build, and design colorful patterns. The trays and vibrant cubes have made our learning spaces even more inviting and aesthetically pleasing, encouraging students to take pride in their work and explore with care and focus.\r\n\r\nOur next steps will bring even more hands-on discovery as we begin our upcoming science unit on insects and life cycles. Students will use the resin bugs and life cycle puzzles to observe details up close, compare different species, and explore how living things grow and change. These new materials will allow students to investigate real-world science concepts through play and observation, sparking their curiosity and deepening their understanding of the natural world.\r\n\r\nYour contribution has truly made our classroom a richer, more engaging place to learn and grow. We were able to use our new headphones with mics to access an AI tutoring program for independent reading. As students are able to speak into the mic, the AI program picks up their reading skills in the moment and helps them with foundational skills and creates comprehension questions within the text. This has been a game changer for both my students and families as I'm able to share the data and voice recordings of their readings with them and share ongoing reading goals based on their reading data. \r\nI am also pleased to announce that with the additional costume items from our project, our students were able to perform the \"3 Piggy Opera\" musical for our families and school community.
