We are starting the school year with Distance Learning due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Due to the unique nature of my students learning profile Distance Learning via a digital platform poses some significant challenges. My students benefit from hands on manipulatives that foster language based learning that is typically innate. My goal is to provide my students with materials that allow a more interactive learning experience even via distance learning. The Pet Playset will go into a larger kit that each family will receive and which I will use during ZOOM sessions to guide parents in joint and pretend play as well work on targeted language skills such as vocabulary development, following directions, prepositional phrases, and increased length of sentences. They will also be a great resource when having students respond to non-formal assessments. I believe that having these Mini Animal Figurines will allow my students to continue to develop their language and social skills in a distance learning space.
