Your kindness and support brought so much joy, creativity, and motivation to my students, and I want to share how these simple yet meaningful materials made a lasting impact on our classroom community. \r\nAs a Title I school, our budget for classroom materials is often very limited. When I realized that I didn't have enough in the art budget to purchase the materials needed for upcoming projects, I was disheartened. Thanks to your generosity, that worry turned into excitement. The white paper bags and scented pencils you provided allowed my students to take part in an engaging, hands-on art project and receive meaningful rewards for their hard work and good behavior. \r\nThe white paper bags were used as part of a special art project where each student created a personalized \"Art-to-Go\" bag. Inside each bag were puzzle pieces to a puzzle created by each student. The outside of each bag was decorated to match their puzzle theme. Watching the students decorate their bags was truly inspiring. \r\nThe scented pencils quickly became a favorite in our classroom! I use them as a positive behavior incentive - students who earn seven gold stars for exemplary behavior receive one as a special reward. I am happy to have a class set so they have access to them every single day. We use technology along with headphones daily in the classroom for math and science. Both subjects have online counterparts that we use daily for bell work or assignments. They take all their tests online, along with state testing throughout the year.\r\nI have many of my students who, through many of our online programs, have accommodations for the text being read to them. This is called text-to-speech. This immensely helps to have headphones so they can simply listen to the program read to them instead of one me trying to get to 12-14 students in both my classes to read the problem they are on. They can all be working at their own pace and not having to wait for me to read a question to them aloud. Each time we received another package, they eagerly helped open it to see the new supplies for our classroom. The materials have been placed around the classroom and are used everyday which aids with classroom organization and flow. Our class greatly appreciates every thing the supplies have helped with in our classroom.\r\n\r\nOne of the most useful items might be the simplest - the pencil dispenser. It holds nearly 100 pencils so requires fewer refills. Students know exactly where to get a pencil, so they don't waste time choosing a pencil from a jar since it simply dispenses one sharp pencil for the student to grab quickly. The labels are another item students have grown to appreciate. They reference the colored labels daily to know where to put things, and later where to find those things again. Having clearly established places for different classroom materials has made students realize the importance of organizing and, more importantly, has increased transition time leaving more time for learning.
