The students were thrilled when they saw me unpacking the boxes that contained all the equipment we purchased with your donation. I cannot tell how I felt seeing all the smiles on the students' faces as they looked at all the equipment we got. Once we aired up all the different types of balls, not only did my class enjoy, but I saw how excited the upper grades were to join in playing with our equipment. \r\n I was on recess duty when the older students were trying to play tether ball, and to listen to them say they had never played tether ball made me tear up that they were now going to be able to use a new type of ball\r\nThanks again for allowing our students to enjoy using equipment they had never used.","fullyFundedDate":1759253977972,"projectUrl":"project/practice-practice-reach-for-the-goal/9502182/","projectTitle":"Practice, Practice, Reach for the Goal!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Robles","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6870743"},{"teacherId":3008853,"projectId":8590428,"letterContent":"My 4th grade class can't thank you enough for the BBC Micro:bit donation. It has brought a new kind of excitement and engagement into our classroom. This micro computer helps students learn coding and technology skills in a fun, interactive way. \r\n\r\nFor instance, after teaching addition and subtraction of whole numbers, and basic math facts, I had my students play math games using the BBC Micro:bit. Students coded their BBC Micro:bit to generate a random number when shaken, they then raced to solve their math problem when added/subtracted/multiplied by their partner's random number. It was a friendly competition that made learning their math facts much more exciting. Not only are they learning basic coding skills but they are also learning a new language that goes with coding. \r\n\r\nIn my class, I have a variety of students whose reading levels range from Kindergarten to 5th grade, but when it comes to coding, all students can participate because the coding blocks are easy to understand. Although coding is a new language for students, it is a language that is easy to understand.\r\n\r\nEach student is thoroughly engaged and when students can't figure out why their Micro:bit isn't cooperating with their code, they troubleshoot. So, through coding, students are also developing their problem solving skills. All of my students are able to code and some even go above and beyond, coding their BBC Micro:bit to play music/sounds to any project that I assign. Students are always eager to learn and do more with the BBC Micro:bit. Oftentimes, students will ask me if they can code additional blocks. Their learning doesn't stop at just the project I assign them. There is so much more to do and this is just the beginning of their coding journey. Your donation will go a long way and we thank you for that.","fullyFundedDate":1731940434842,"projectUrl":"project/micro-bit-a-small-device-with-a-big-byte/8590428/","projectTitle":"Micro Bit a small device with a big byte!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Gallegos","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3008853_orig.jpg?crop=1242,1242,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1723084675097","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3008853"},{"teacherId":9072286,"projectId":8905506,"letterContent":"Our class is loving the first book in the Harry Potter series so much. They come in from lunch, sit down, and open up to the page on the board and we read for approximately 15-20 minutes every day. The room is so quiet when we are reading until.... our time ends and I bring out some Sweettarts and ask comprehension questions. This is their favorite part. When I ask a question, I have everyone share with their group what the answer is while the Jeopardy timer ticks away its melodic timer. When the timer is up, I call on a random student who gets to answer in a complete sentence and loud enough for all to hear. Most of the time they get the right answer, but if they don't, their group can help them. They get so excited when they get the right answer. Another activity we do is for them to come up with a question of their own and stump a classmate. If their classmate can answer the question, the classmate gets the Sweettart, if they cannot, then the person who asked the question gets the prize. This is a tremendous way to learn new vocabulary words, ask comprehension questions, and discuss ideas. \r\n I have been asked multiple times if we can read the next book in the series. Unfortunately, we do not have the class set of the Chamber of Secrets. I love how they are excited to read the next book in the series though. This is what I really wanted: to spark that love of reading and wanting to find out what happens next so much that they continue reading on their own. \r\n I'm sending a very big thank you to my donors for giving us this opportunity. As the years go on, I will be able to create more in depth lessons and projects to go along with the book. Thank you.","fullyFundedDate":1731940433680,"projectUrl":"project/the-magical-world-of-reading-and-harry-p/8905506/","projectTitle":"The Magical World of Reading and Harry Potter","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Hamer","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9072286"},{"teacherId":6870743,"projectId":8828959,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generosity.
