The plush toys have made a significant, positive impact on both the students emotional and social development. The plush toys offer comfort and security, which is especially helpful for children with autism who sometimes feel overwhelmed by sensory input or social interactions. These toys are serving as soothing tools during transitions, calm down moments for times of stress.\r\n\r\nAdditionally, the plush toys encourage imaginative play and interaction, which is crucial for building social skills. My students with autism, at times find socializing challenging, these toys act as social bridges, helping to facilitate group play, role-playing activities, and shared experiences that nurture communication skills.\r\n\r\nThe presence of the plush toys have also fostered a sense of inclusion, as we used these during activities designed for emotional expression and cooperative learning. Some of my students have difficulty with verbal communication, the plush toys help them express themselves and feel understood in non-verbal ways.\r\n\r\nUltimately, the donation has enhanced the learning environment by adding a tactile, comforting element that promotes both emotional well-being and social interaction, contributing to an overall positive experience for the students.","fullyFundedDate":1734034747910,"projectUrl":"project/plush-toys-for-play-area/8776152/","projectTitle":"Plush Toys For Play Area","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Glover","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp5476611_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1582318353983","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5476611"},{"teacherId":8421494,"projectId":8727550,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for supporting our classroom. I let them pick books that interested them, and gave them time to just read. Some kids were reading biographies about people in fields they want to study. Some students were reading about animals, dinosaurs, or other creatures. Others were reading about history and inventions. The students kept coming up to me to inform me about something they read that was intriguing. \r\nNow, when they finish their work early, they tend to head to the back of the room, grab a book, and read on their own.
