As with anything in life, people are happier when they are given choices. Giving students the choice of where they will be working throughout the day, empowers them to be more engaged, as well as taking ownership of their learning. These are all key factors in ensuring a positive, exciting, and productive classroom. Currently my students work on tables, or on the carpet with clipboards and pillows. My students are more engaged and effective when given options in the classroom, and are motivated to complete assignments. By implementing Flexible Seating in the classroom, students will be able to chose their work area for independent work, as well as centers will be differentiated to meet student needs. The products selected will give my students more seating options, which will help them make more learning choices. The Wobble Seats will help with students who have to get the wiggles out, they can also be used in a variety of ways since they are light weight can be moved around easily. The comfy floor seats and lap desks will be used throughout the day, since eventually my goal is to make my classroom entirely of Flexible Seating. I have witnessed the difference in a students demeanor when they are given the simple option of a clipboard and a carpet, they are more involved and excited than usual. I can't wait to see their excitement, should this be funded! I know in my heart that these additional options will help the students grow even more!
