While many of our donors use technology at home, this iPad has become a powerful tool at school to help us better care for students' basic needs so they can focus on learning.\r\n\r\nThe iPad allows me to efficiently track student services and monitor snack distribution throughout the day. This helps ensure that students who may be missing lunch or not getting enough to eat are identified quickly and supported consistently. Instead of relying on paper logs or memory, I can respond in real time to student needs and make sure no one falls through the cracks.\r\n\r\nWhat excites students most is not the technology itself, but how it makes them feel, seen, supported, and cared for. When students know there is a system in place to help them get snacks or additional support without embarrassment, it builds trust and a sense of safety at school.\r\n\r\nThis technology has been especially impactful for students who struggle with food insecurity. These students have shown improved focus, better moods, and increased engagement in class once their basic needs are met. Several students have shared that having access to snacks helps them feel less anxious and less hungry throughout the school day, allowing them to concentrate and participate more fully in learning.\r\n\r\nBecause of this project, students feel supported not just academically, but emotionally and physically as well. This iPad has helped us close small but critical gaps in the school day and those gaps make a big difference in a child's ability to learn. The two main items are the wireless microphones and the SD card we received. Because of these items, students have had the opportunity to do more in the class.\r\n\r\nWith more wireless microphones, students have greater opportunities to record and interview without having to wait for others to finish. Having limited equipment is always a challenge, especially when that is the only challenge. By having these additional mics, we have been able to get more done with more students!\r\n\r\nLastly the SD card purchased is used for our drone and DJI Osmo. I wish I could have recorded the reactions of my returning students when they saw the space for restorative practices. They were immediately excited to see the new furniture. Then once we started getting into the work, they have discovered new items throughout the room that have helped make things more comfortable. \r\n\r\nThe fidgets, calm strips, and zen gardens have helped students to regulate theri emotions. Once students are de-escalated, only then are they able to talk though what happened. We have even used the weighted blanket to help students stay regulated while talking through conflict. \r\n\r\nGames like \"Herd Mentality\" have helped to rebuild connection after conflict has been resolved. The amount of joy and laughter that comes out of the space when this game comes out is incredible.
