The importance of it for me was that we had only previously had a small pink and purple castle as a \"dollhouse.\" I was really hoping for something larger, sturdy, and appealing to both boys and girls to exercise their dramatic play time. My photos include one of a student pretending a shelving unit was a dollhouse before we had this one, so you can see what we were working with.\r\n\r\nWhen my co-teacher and I did the big reveal, all of the children were so excited. We have a certain amount of kids allowed in each play area during choice time. They didn't fight over it (thankfully), but the new dollhouse was a highly sought after place to be! I'm delighted to report that we typically have even more boy activity with the dollhouse than we do with the girls, though they also love it.\r\n\r\nDramatic play for our young learners helps them learn and develop many social skills, as well as problem solving strategies.
