Our students were thrilled to receive their own copies, and the timing couldn't have been better because we plan on starting our Earthquake Engineers unit very soon!\r\n\r\nThese books are helping us make meaningful connections between reading and science. As students learn about plate tectonics, seismic waves, and earthquake safety, they will also be exploring what it might have felt like to live through a real historical earthquake. We hope the story will spark curiosity and thoughtful discussions about how we respond to natural disasters, and how engineers (like themselves!) design structures to withstand them.\r\n\r\nBecause of your support, students who might not have access to engaging novels at home now have a book they can truly call their own. You've made learning more exciting, relevant, and personal for them.\r\n\r\nThank you for investing in our classroom and for inspiring our students to read, think critically, and dream big.","fullyFundedDate":1757793710923,"projectUrl":"project/earthquake-engineers/9367911/","projectTitle":"Earthquake Engineers!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. C","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/2645546"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_4654","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":288,"numTeachers":15,"percentFrplEligible":37,"percentAsian":61,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":4,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":22,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"19.2:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":88.9,"schoolId":4654,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Junipero Serra Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Junipero Serra Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/south-san-francisco-unified-school-district/junipero-serra-elementary-school/4654"}
