The addition of storage racks has helped organize our lap seating, replacing bulky cardboard boxes and creating a more visually appealing and functional space. This simple change has improved classroom flow and aligns beautifully with the overall aesthetic, making our room feel more calm and inviting for students.\r\n\r\nSeveral of the new materials have directly supported student learning and independence. The headphones have been especially valuable, allowing students to fully engage with lessons and activities on their Chromebooks without distractions. The new pencil sharpener has also made a noticeable difference. Students can now sharpen their pencils quickly and effectively, minimizing interruptions and maximizing instructional time. Additionally, the test prep books have given me the tools to better support students as they prepare, helping build both their confidence and skills.\r\n\r\nOther additions have enhanced both learning and student well-being. The science bulletin board set has already been put to use, creating an engaging visual that supports our curriculum. The jump ropes have been a fantastic addition during \"Sharpen the Saw\" time, giving students a fun and active way to recharge. Your donations have made a meaningful impact on each and every student, opening doors to new ideas, perspectives, and adventures that they may not have experienced otherwise. It is truly inspiring to see how something as simple as a book can bring so much joy and motivation into our classroom. Your support reminds us that there are people out there who believe in our students and are willing to invest in their growth and success.\r\n\r\nWe are thrilled to share that we have already read two of the books you provided, and the response from the students has been amazing. They have been fully engaged, eager to discuss the stories, and excited to connect with characters who are close to their own age. These connections have made reading feel more personal and meaningful, helping students see themselves in the stories and imagine new possibilities for their own lives. The conversations that have come from these readings have been thoughtful and rich, showing just how impactful these books have been in such a short amount of time. We cannot wait to continue exploring the rest of the books before the school year ends, as the excitement continues to grow with each new story we begin.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has not only provided books, but it has also created opportunities for learning, imagination, and connection. Many of our students are discovering a renewed confidence in their reading abilities and are more willing to take risks, try new genres, and share their thoughts with their classmates. Watching their enthusiasm grow has been one of the most rewarding parts of this experience. The classroom has truly come alive with storytelling, laughter, and meaningful discussions, all thanks to your support.\r\n\r\nOn behalf of our entire class, thank you for believing in our students and for helping us build a classroom filled with stories, adventure, and a love of learning. I learned that my students are better able to focus when movement is incorporated. Through a previous project, flexible seating was able to be funded including their favorite seating choice: wiggle stools. They were so loved that all but two broke. I knew that we would need more sturdy stools going forward. Although I often purchase materials for my classroom and students, my heart sank when I saw the cost knowing the stools were outside of my budget. On a whim, I created a Donors Choose project. What could it hurt? I was moved to tears when I checked back to see that my entire project was funded, including the more-sturdy wiggle stools. \r\n\r\nUpon their arrival my students were so excited to try them out. When I told them that someone generously donated to purchase these items just for them they were amazed. \"That is soooo nice of them!\", \"Wow, how kind!\", and \"Bruh, these stools are awesome!\" Since then, these stools have been put to the test, and held up! They're sturdy, help my kiddos get some movement in, and are such a great addition to our classroom. My colleagues have even come in to try them out. \r\n\r\nThe other portion of this project were various fidgets and small sensory toys. As a Special Education teacher one of my goals as is to help students to better understand their own learning styles and tools they can use to help them better succeed. Fidgets have been helpful tools in our classroom. One of my sweet students often struggles to regulate his emotions when he is frustrated or overwhelmed. On a particular day he came to my classroom frustrated that his math work was \"impossible.\" Upon discussion we decided to take a short break to calm down before deciding how to move forward. I offered him a choice of a couple of sensory toys including a squishy cube. He loved being able to use that toy to help relieve some frustration. After a few minutes, he was able to calm down and together we came up with a plan for him to complete his work, including using the squishy cube as long as he continued to work. I watched as he would come to a difficult problem, pick up the cube and squish it in his hands while solving the equation. Pretty soon he was completing more than the required work and was so proud of himself for being able to use his tools to regulate his emotions, push forward, and complete something he was sure he would never be able to do. \r\n\r\nIn Special Education, progress can be small and slow, which means we celebrate all progress! These seemingly insignificant toys and stools have made a big impact in my students' school experience, helping to create an environment where they can be successful.
