Your generosity has provided resources that help students feel comfortable, supported, and excited to participate in counseling activities. The sensory tools, calming materials, comfortable seating, and creative supplies are helping make our counseling space a place where students can express themselves, explore their feelings, and learn important life skills. Students especially enjoy having hands-on materials that make learning about emotions and coping strategies engaging and fun!\r\n\r\nWe are using these resources during individual counseling sessions, small-group activities, and social-emotional learning experiences. This fall, our self-control groups have been focusing on recognizing emotions, managing frustration, and making positive choices. The materials allow students to practice these skills in meaningful, interactive ways. It is wonderful to see students exploring different calming strategies, building confidence, and discovering healthy ways to express their feelings.\r\n\r\n\r\nWhat makes this project especially meaningful is that its impact will continue throughout the entire school year and beyond! As we move into additional lessons and groups focused on friendship, kindness, emotional regulation, and problem-solving, these resources will continue supporting students across our school. With more than 700 River Otters to serve, having a comfortable and engaging counseling environment makes such a difference. My second graders love starting their day with hands-on activities that encourage creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving. Students are building structures, experimenting with different materials, and working together to bring their ideas to life. It is so rewarding to watch them collaborate, think outside the box, and proudly share what they have created!\r\nMy students were so excited to see all of the new STEAM toys and STEM materials! They couldn't wait to explore the different activities and discover what they could build and create. Their excitement and curiosity made it clear that these resources would be a hit! It has been wonderful to see their imaginations take off as they explore, experiment, and learn through play.\r\nWe will continue using our STEM bins and STEAM toys during morning centers to strengthen problem-solving, creativity, teamwork, and perseverance. As the year progresses, students will take on new building challenges, test their ideas, and learn that mistakes are opportunities to try something new. These activities provide a meaningful way to begin each school day by engaging students in learning while helping them develop important skills that extend beyond the classroom. Thank you for this! These bluetooth headphone/ mic sets have provided multiple modes for learning. The students have absolutely thrived when sharing their work. For example, students have recorded themselves and posted these recordings to their families. Instead of simply turning in a paper assignment, students also share their work on Class Dojo, which is sent to their parents. They record and listen to themselves reading. This is then posted to me, the teacher, and their parents. Additionally, the students have shared their writing and have also explained how they've solved math assignments. The families have \"liked\" and commented on their work which has been a great motivating factor for the students. The quality of their work is that much better with this accountability. \r\n\r\nSome of my MLL (multilingual learner) students have found the headphones quite useful as well. They use the mic to write and translate their writing. Additionally, students needing supports in reading are able to use the headphones to listen to audio texts. Studies show that students improve in literacy when they can hear and see a text at the same time. We use the headphones daily with reading and math programs as well. iReady is one of these required programs that is adaptive to student learning. We are thankful for this valuable tool. \r\n\r\nOur final fun project of the year will be a claymation project where students create movie trailers that will be shared with students at the beginning of next schoolyear. We can't wait to write scripts and create these movies next! Thank you for your generosity! During our daily WINN time block, students have enjoyed working through a variety of printed activities that reinforce important academic skills.\r\n\r\nReading about exciting STEM topics, learning across multiple subjects, and doing it all without screens has been a wonderful combination for our fourth grade classrooms. One student whispered, \"Are those really for us?\" and another immediately began sketching ideas in her notebook. We launched our first design challenge that same week, creating a way for the Gingerbread Man to cross the river without getting wet! Students worked in teams to design and build boats, bridges, and flotation devices using the new STEAM materials. They planned, tested, and redesigned their creations after seeing what worked and what didn't. The room was filled with cheers when a prototype successfully carried our cookie safely across \"the river.\" It was incredible to watch them think like engineers, problem-solve together, and persist through redesigns.\r\n\r\nSince then, the materials have continued to bring learning to life. During our Oregon Trail unit, students used the makerspace supplies to create 3D wagon models and landscape scenes, carefully considering what supplies pioneers would need and the obstacles they might face along the journey. They collaborated to design sturdy wagons and even engineered solutions for river crossings and rough terrain. Students who are sometimes quiet during traditional lessons truly shine when they can build and create. They are more confident sharing ideas, taking risks, and thinking creatively because they can physically test their thinking.\r\n\r\nNext, we are preparing for an exciting project using our cardboard construction tools and small engines to design moving insects. Students will study insect body structures and movement, then sketch and build models that can actually move. They are currently researching different insects and planning how they will incorporate simple machines and motion into their designs. Thanks to your generosity, our classroom is no longer just a place where we read about science and history. It's a place where we build, experiment, and bring learning to life every single day.","fullyFundedDate":1763556964321,"projectUrl":"project/otterly-amazing-steam-explorers-little/9888156/","projectTitle":"Otterly Amazing STEAM Explorers- Little Innovators Making a Big Splash!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Mande","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp53279_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1488909822978","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrs-mande"},{"teacherId":7605934,"projectId":9869535,"letterContent":"Thank you for donating art supplies.
