It created a wonderful moment in the classroom where students began talking about their reading goals and how hard they were willing to work to reach them. Seeing their motivation and enthusiasm reminded us just how powerful encouragement can be for young learners.\r\n\r\nWe are currently using the new resources during our small-group reading lessons. Students are practicing high-frequency words, sorting letter patterns, reading various texts, and sharpening their comprehension skills through partner/group discussions and writing tasks. As they build their skills and show perseverance during lessons, they have the opportunity to earn rewards that celebrate their effort and progress. The rewards have helped create a positive and encouraging environment where students feel proud of their accomplishments and motivated to keep improving.\r\n\r\nOur next steps are to continue strengthening foundational reading skills such as decoding, word recognition, and reading fluency, and comprehension skills. The snacks have also been a tremendous support. The Post-it notes have helped students track ideas during investigations, and I've been laminating vocabulary cards, lab directions, and game materials so we can reuse them all year long. The wireless clicker has also allowed me to move around the room while teaching, which keeps students more engaged and allows me to support small groups without interrupting instruction.\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, the excitement was immediate. Students were especially amazed by the Merge Cube holding a 3D beating heart and rotating it in their hands felt like \"real scientist work,\" as one student said. The mobile whiteboards students loved being able to stand, collaborate, and share their thinking more dynamically. Even small additions like the trays and sticker dispenser have made organization smoother and celebrations more joyful. It truly felt like Christmas morning as we unboxed everything together.\r\nLooking ahead, these tools will continue to support deeper learning across subjects. We are preparing to begin our next STEM investigation, where students will use the Merge Cube to explore interactive simulations and then record their observations on laminated lab sheets. The whiteboards will support collaborative planning and reflection, and the reusable materials will help us build a growing bank of student-created resources.
