Thanks to you, we now have the Cricut machine and materials needed to create interactive, hands-on tools that will transform the way my students understand functions and their transformations.\r\n\r\nIn Algebra 2, much of our year is spent studying different types of functions—how they behave, how they compare, and how they are all connected. Many students struggle to grasp the big idea that every new function is really just a transformation of a parent function. This concept is essential for success not only in Algebra 2, but in all of high school mathematics.\r\n\r\nBecause of your donation, I can now design and laminate movable parent-function pieces that students can physically shift, flip, and slide on laminated graph grids. This interactive approach will help them see and feel what it means to translate, reflect, stretch, and compress a function. Instead of memorizing rules, students will be able to experiment, make discoveries, and build conceptual understanding that lasts.\r\n\r\nThese manipulatives will be reused year after year, benefiting hundreds of students and helping them build confidence in one of the most challenging parts of the Algebra 2 curriculum. Your support has enabled me to bring a creative, tactile learning experience into my classroom—one that I could not have provided without your generosity.\r\n\r\nThank you for believing in my students and giving them the tools they need to succeed. Because of you, my students now have access to popcorn-making supplies and food baskets with wax-paper liners—items that may seem simple, but make a tremendous difference in their daily school experience.\r\n\r\nIn my classroom, popcorn has become more than just a snack. During long days, high-stress weeks, and especially during testing season, many of my students come to class tired, hungry, or overwhelmed. Offering a small, warm snack like popcorn has consistently boosted their engagement, morale, and comfort. It creates a welcoming atmosphere where they feel cared for and ready to participate.\r\n\r\nBefore this project, I often struggled with how to serve the popcorn in a clean and sustainable way. We used napkins, but the butter would soak through, leaving sticky desks and wasting supplies. Your donation changed that. The trays and wax-paper liners allow me to serve snacks efficiently and hygienically while keeping our classroom clean. Even more importantly, it allows me to provide this gesture of care without worrying about the ongoing cost coming out of my own pocket.\r\n\r\nThanks to you, my students can focus more, work comfortably, and feel valued. We've already put it to great use; students have been using it for research, video creation, presentations, and specially for creating digital art. Students have already used the iPad to record skits, add graphics, and edit footage for their slides. It has made the creative process far more accessible and has given students the flexibility to work anywhere in the classroom and even outside of the classroom as well. \r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the iPad, their excitement was immediate and full of curiosity. Many of the students were asking why we were getting an iPad; many of my students (9th and 10th graders) had had access to iPads when they were in elementary school. As a result, many were surprised and grateful that strangers had invested their time into helping us get a new iPad! The students were already comfortable with the use of an iPad and immediately began to make suggestions as to what apps we should be downloading to maximize our collective use of the device. They eagerly discussed art project ideas, explored creative apps, and took turns experimenting with the camera and editing tools. There were a few students however that don't have access to this kind of technology at home and so this has now opened new educational opportunities for them. \r\n\r\nAs we move forward, the iPad will continue to play an important role in our upcoming media literacy and projects. Students will soon begin to work on their final projects and many of my students are already trying to book the iPad in advance! A special shoutout to The Maxwell/Hanrahan Foundation and to you all for your collective generosity, the students now have the tools to showcase their creativity and learning experiences from this first semester!","fullyFundedDate":1758822434943,"projectUrl":"project/information-at-your-fingerprints/9619064/","projectTitle":"Information at Your Fingerprints","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Cortez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9976435"},{"teacherId":541769,"projectId":9606094,"letterContent":"We are incredibly grateful for your generous donation, which immediately elevates our program by providing essential equipment for practice and fitness. Thanks to your support, I have successfully acquired a complete inventory of essential daily supplies that are vital to my learning environment this year.\r\n\r\nYour donation provided the foundational resources necessary for productive and focused instruction. These materials cover everything from core academic needs to classroom management and hygiene:\r\n\r\nLearning Materials: My class is fully stocked with high-quality writing instruments, tape, rulers, glue sticks, and scissors. This ensures that every student can immediately engage in creative and academic tasks without being delayed by a lack of equipment.\r\n\r\nOperational Support: Your gift also covered crucial organizational items, like supply caddies, laminating pouches, and baskets, which promote a smooth and efficient learning process to conduct lab experiments with their scientific notebooks in small groups throughout the day.\r\n\r\nComfort and Well-being: Essential items, like tissues, that contribute to a healthy and comfortable environment for all students.
