When the kids first saw it they were in awe at how much more space we had to sit during our lessons. We were quick to assign spots for everyone and the carpet has the perfect amount of squares so that the kids have some open squares between each of them.\r\n\r\nHaving assigned squares helps so much with classroom management. I can much more easily keep kids who will distract each other away from one another. The different colors also makes organizing groups and dismissing kids to tables, lines, or their cubbies much easier. It's way easier just telling the kids sitting on blue to line up than it is sending one kid at a time or accidentally sending the whole class at once when they get confused.\r\n\r\nThe extra space has also helped a ton with the students staying in their personal bubbles. We rarely have any issues with the kids not keeping their hands to themselves when they are on the carpet now. Overall the carpet has made teaching our carpet lessons so much smoother and I really appreciate it. Since its something that sticks around too, it will help many more classes stay organized for years to come.","fullyFundedDate":1725508376915,"projectUrl":"project/astrojets-require-carpet-space/8720915/","projectTitle":"Astrojets Require Carpet \"Space\"","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Kilman","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9717557"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_87074","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":408,"numTeachers":38,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":21,"percentWhite":14,"percentIndigenous":4,"percentLatinx":45,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 4","studentTeacherRatio":"10.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":47.3,"schoolId":87074,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about John Glenn Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"John Glenn Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/oklahoma/western-heights-school-district-i-41/john-glenn-elementary-school/87074"}
