The arrival of new, engaging titles created an immediate buzz of excitement that has translated into measurable increases in independent reading time and student engagement. Before the donation, our classroom library consisted primarily of older titles that students had seen year after year, but the new books—with their vibrant covers, contemporary topics, and diverse characters—captured student interest in ways our previous collection could not.\r\n\r\nThe results have been extraordinary. Students who previously avoided independent reading time now eagerly grab books during free moments, and our checkout system shows a significant increase in books borrowed. Students are finishing books faster and returning for more, motivated by the novelty and the opportunity to be among the first to read these fresh additions. The appeal of new, relevant books cannot be understated—it has transformed reluctant readers into enthusiastic ones.\r\n\r\nBeyond the numbers, we've noticed students recommending books to one another, discussing plots during lunch, and even requesting additional time for reading. The new books have sparked conversations and created a reading community within our classroom that simply didn't exist before. This generous donation has reminded us that access to engaging, current, and diverse reading materials is essential for fostering a love of reading, and we are deeply grateful for this gift that continues to inspire our students every day.","fullyFundedDate":1782761381540,"projectUrl":"project/diversify-my-classroom/10265547/","projectTitle":"Diversify My Classroom","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Brizzi","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp290344_orig.jpg?crop=3023,3024,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1777999388937","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/290344"},{"teacherId":9998166,"projectId":10012461,"letterContent":"The books we were gifted were so appreciated by myself and my students! By allowing students an opportunity to use these graphing calculators, they are able to make connections with equations and data that they weren't able to previously. Used in conjunction with motion sensors, they are now able to create their own data for analyzing. Through some of the lessons where these calculators were utilized, I saw classes with 100% participation. Students were excited to share with me what they had discovered and were taking on more challenges.\r\nLinear equations and proportional functions are a huge part of 8th grade math. These topics tie together many of the other standards that we see over the course of this year.
