My students come from very diverse areas and several from low poverty since we are considered a Title 1 funded middle school. With the extra Title 1 funding, our school has made it our mission to provide technology to keep the students engaged and ready for the 21st century. In order to achieve this focus, my students are accustomed to my extensive podcasts and keynotes to comprehend the California State Standards. They learn differently than students just a few decades ago and are interested in pop culture and reality shows. My students had to borrow the class set of headphones for the school and the majority of them did not work or were broken of some sort. Technology enhanced learning cannot happen if their equipment is not working so the students get frustrated and become disengaged.
