On the day of arrival, I had my preschoolers open and roll out the carpet. They had so much fun trying to manipulate such a large rug into place. Some of the comments they made were \"Wow!\", \"Oohh.\", and \"What?\". Their laughter was hilarious!\r\n The photos attached show that we did, in fact, get the carpet into place. We use it for sitting while we see the lesson on the screen, a place to dance to the music, and some of the older students use it to sit and do their work. It has allowed my classes to feel more comfortable and have flexible seating. I have even used the large treble clef in the center of the rug to find lines, spaces, and pitches for notes. Seats are assigned by symbol. For example, a student will sit on the half note or the sharp sign. It has helped to teach vocabulary that I wouldn't have mormally included in the lesson. \r\n I hope you enjoy the pictures as much as we enjoyed making them. Thank you again for your kindness. Since receiving the materials, I have been able to extend services at the INA library through the use of Grab-and-Go library kits! The hanging bags and racks have also been incredibly useful for sorting and organizing small pieces for library crafts, activities, and games. \r\n\r\nIn addition to creating kits for teachers, I have also been creating Read-Along bags for students to check out. These include a book with a QR code to a video version of the story. Students can simply scan the code that is in their bag and read/listen to the book along with the video! The students were so excited to get started and I was looking forward to the outcome!\r\n For the best outcome, I combined my music class with the art class. Students loved the idea of collaberating with their friends. I was able to reinforce the science of music by creating the resonator and using the beads as the vibration makers. Students had to decide how many beads inside and outside the shekere to obtain the volume level that they desired. Most of the girls chose a quieter instrument while the boys went full out and added as much as they possibly could!\r\n We used the shekeres in a December performance of African drumming. One student was so proud of his creation that he insisting on going to the principal to show her his work. Other studetns decorated their instrument to look like the flag of their country or a favorite memory. It was amazing to see them all so proud of themselves. \r\n This is definetly something that I will continue to do in the future. Thank you for helping me to offer this to the students.
