Student leaders have different jobs, which they have to apply for, interview for and maintain grades, attendance and performance review. In the pictures, you can see students at our job fair asking questions and researching the Tienda employment options. (This is them practicing professional English in a public setting!!) \r\n\r\nAlso, in the pictures you can see one of the accountants at work. Sometimes it is grabbing electrolytes during the day after they worked all night and still showed up for school. Sometimes students are excited to enjoy a granola bar with their coffee mid day, knowing they will work for 8 hours after they leave school and will not get a lot of quiet moments. \r\n\r\nWe were also able to fill a resource table at our mini-job fair. Students were able to take fruit cups, fresh fruit, protein shakes, noodles and canned goods home. Just yesterday, a student came to my room from another class upset and disregulated. The teacher didn't have a pencil and she knew I did. She told me that she knew I had good pencils and didn't want them to be lost but she just wanted to do her work and she promised to take care of it and bring it back. I gave her a few and told her, \"all yours.\" Even though I know students are grateful for supplies, I didn't ever think a kid could be so motivated or happy to have pencils. \r\n\r\nThank you doesn't cover it. To help us accomplish this, we maintain a resource room in our school with food, household items, hygiene supplies, baby items, and clothing. We try to keep the donations organized and orderly, but this can be difficult when we lack racks and shelving to do so.\r\nWe cannot thank you enough for helping us to organize our clothing to give it a boutique-style appearance. The racks you funded allow us to hang the clothing rather than keeping it in bins that our students and families have to bend down to sort through. The bins left the clothing disorganized and unattractive, but the racks allow our families to browse in comfort and keep everything looking nice.\r\nDuring our Open House and Back to School night, families could happily look through the clothing and really see it while feeling like they were cared for. It made a huge difference and families left with bulging bags and big smiles.
