The majority of the students are at the school from 7:15am to 5:30pm on days of marching band rehearsals, and the only times they get to eat are the short breakfast period before school, and their lunch period, which is either 10:10-11:00, or 11:50-12:40. The period between that time and 5:30 is a long period of time for students to go without food, especially when doing physical activity, and your support has helped fuel them for that long rehearsal.\r\n\r\nThe students were more than happy to see those snacks, and it definitely increased attendance at rehearsals. Getting students to come to rehearsal was my biggest struggle this year as the new band director at Independence, and being able to feed them was a huge step in getting our numbers up.\r\n\r\nI am so enthusiastic to hear that you enjoyed our performance at the Hamilton Township game, as my students are always excited to perform, especially at that location specifically. Since then, we have only gotten better and I hope that you will get to hear us again. I cannot stress enough how grateful the students and I are that you have donated to our program and helped us grow and improve in the way that we have.","fullyFundedDate":1788830551946,"projectUrl":"project/fuel-for-music/10438800/","projectTitle":"Fuel for Music!","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. O","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10574887"},{"teacherId":10111499,"projectId":9534469,"letterContent":"Your generosity and kindness have greatly impacted my band students this school year! \"Thank you\" does not do justice in expressing our gratitude to you. As a new band director, I had a great deal of anxiety coming into this year because I had no idea what I'd be walking into, or what support I would have. Thanks to you all, my band students received the essential supplies needed to have a successful marching band season.\r\n\r\nYour donations lifted a ton of pressure off both me and my students; from not having to worry if we'd have enough reeds or valve oil to get through the season, to having access to brand new drumsticks for each of my percussionists, we never had to stress about a lack of necessary supplies. For this, we are all eternally grateful to you.\r\n\r\nSo, to the donors who helped ensure this teacher and her students did not have to struggle through a long marching band season without necessary supplies, THANK YOU! The IHS band program had a fabulous start to our year, all because of you.","fullyFundedDate":1754859682926,"projectUrl":"project/putting-the-band-in-band-aid-supporting/9534469/","projectTitle":"Putting the BAND in Band-aid: Supporting Young Musicians","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Etoll","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10111499_orig.jpg?crop=1354,1354,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1754858204308","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10111499"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_40737","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":710,"numTeachers":42,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":67,"percentWhite":4,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":22,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":3,"gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"16.9:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":68.1,"schoolId":40737,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Independence High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Independence High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/ohio/columbus-city-school-district/independence-high-school/40737"}
