My students need 30 scientific calculators and 5 TI-30Xa calculators in order to be comfortable preforming on standardize tests. Exposing them to this key piece of technology will set them up for tremendous success in the future. One of my biggest fears is them understanding and mastering all of the materials but when it comes to the best simply not being able to answer all of the questions because they are not familiar with the calculator tool and will do all the commutations by hand. Having a calculator will allow my students to answer higher level questions at a faster pace allowing for even more practice time.
