Without these donations, my students would have less tactile and colorful objects to help them learn and keep them engaged.\r\n\r\nMy students have really enjoyed the Tonie Box. They are able to make choices as to what character to pick and then settle in for a nice story or fun song. The box is often used as their 'earn' when they complete required activities. It's very versatile because one or all the students can use it at the same time and it is easily portable. And...we can add to our library so that makes it fun to know that the stories and song collection will grow.\r\n\r\nThe alphabet bins/holder is my favorite a teaching tool in the classroom! I actually had borrowed another teachers alphabet bins whenever I would introduce a new letter. Now I have my very own so we use it throughout the week. The kiddos love it! They get to touch an object and not only see an object on the smart board. We 'unveil' a new letter everyweek and they look forward to me opening up the bucket like it is a mystery and they need to guess what the new letter of the week is.\r\n\r\nI also received awesome clip boards to clip my students goal sheets. They sit easily on the counter so any of my paras can access them to record data. And of course a kindergarten/first grade classroom would never be able to survive without colorful construction paper, that we use daily.\r\n\r\nSo, in closing, thank you so much for the generous gifts and for helping my students and I have much more meaningful learning experiences!\r\n\r\nCarla Setting","fullyFundedDate":1760813054273,"projectUrl":"project/setting-special-education-classroom/9836375/","projectTitle":"Setting- Special Education Classroom","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Setting","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10315298"},{"teacherId":10319269,"projectId":9843344,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous support of our students and for making my DonorsChoose project, \"More senses, more success: literacy through all our paths\" (9843344), possible. The giant alphabet stepping stones encourage active learning while reinforcing letter recognition and sequencing. Because of your generosity and the State of Delaware's support for DonorsChoose projects, my classroom received two QuickTalker 7 communication devices, and they are already making a meaningful impact.\r\nThese QuickTalker 7s allow for up to 35 different messages, giving students with communication and motor needs a reliable way to participate actively in literacy lessons. The devices are being used during shared reading, classroom discussions, and curriculum-based activities, with messages easily swapped out to match current stories, themes, and instructional goals.\r\nFor many of my students, participating in literacy activities has traditionally required adult interpretation or limited response options. With these devices, students can independently answer questions, comment on stories, label pictures, and engage with peers in ways that were not previously accessible to them. Their confidence and engagement during reading activities have noticeably increased.\r\nAn additional benefit of this project is its reach. The two QuickTalker 7 devices are being shared across two separate elementary classrooms, allowing multiple students to benefit throughout the school day. Especially feelings this school year. I have a student who has cortical vision impairment and he struggles with his vision on top of other sensory issues. When we began talking about our feelings the first week of school its hard to just show him a visual because in reality he is unable to see what is printed on a rectangular shaped piece of paper. The jumbo tactile worry stones were useful. First we talked about being happy and we took the little boys hand and rubbed it over the happy stone. We did this for the four main feelings: happy, sad, mad, worried. At first he was not a fan but when we added sound scenarios to being sad and mad he became more interested. \r\n\r\nI also want to share other stories too! The sensory tubes have been great too! Many children want to play with them! When we have whole group, I have been able to use the sensory tubes for a few students who just can't seem to remain on the rug doing morning meeting. The students have been successfully remaining on the rug with the tubes. I did have to remove the noisy tubes with the rubber balls during learning time! \r\n\r\nThe light up toys have been really good also because the students are really interested in the lights. They get really close to the lights and become super excited. Other items like the pop up caterpillar is a classroom favorite.
