They are learning how to work through struggles, change their original ideas to adjust, and use critical thinking skills that our young learners need in order to be successful in the future. \r\n The materials are set out during center time for students to explore. When I first put them out the kids were so excited, but were not exactly sure on what they could do with them. During one of our first days I showed them a few options on how to use them. At first, the students copied my ideas, but it didn't take long for a couple of kids to come up with their own ideas. Soon we had towers, race tracks, houses, ramps, and all sort of creations. It was so fun to watch their imaginations bloom. \r\n This was the first step to opening up imagination. Through STEM my students are learning to branch out and try new ideas without the fear of failure. They are learning that failure is not bad, it just means you learned how something does NOT work. The technology we received—particularly the classroom printer. What excites students most is seeing learning come to life through hands-on, personalized activities. Struggling readers and writers are more confident when they receive materials that match their ability level and allow them to practice skills repeatedly in a low-pressure way.
