I purchased a lot of fiction books that I will be reading to my students throughout the year. Each book is centered around many reading standards. RL 1 through RL 1.6. Students will ask and answer questions about key details in a text. They will retell stories including identifying the central message or lesson. They will be able to describe story elements, compare and contrast characters, and identify points of view. I also purchased math resources that will allow students to have hands on manipulatives when learning math concepts. For example ten frames, hundreds boards, counters, and a jumbo floor number line to help with building math fluency in Operations and Algebraic Thinking 1.oa. I also purchased an organizing unit to store a lot of the math manipulatives used in our classroom. Which in first grade there are a lot of hands on manipulatives the students use on a daily basis.
