With your support I received thousands of stickers that have been colorful motivators for my students! Each day they have the opportunity to earn a new sticker for their personalized chart. Once the chart is filled up, I date it, write a congratulatory note and take their picture. They proudly take their chart home and share the good news with their family. \r\n\r\nThe other materials such as the date stamper is fun for me and the students and keeps us organized and on track, it's funny how the little things make such a big difference. The other hit are the \"fancy\" gel pens. Again, just a little something special goes a long way. Students who are practicing their math facts and completing work feel a bit more enthusiastic using the smoothly gliding pens. We may go by the rule of don't sweat the small stuff, but often it is the small stuff that brings us the most joy and can brighten a day! My students are using the magnet board, magnetic tiles, cubes, pattern blocks, and letters during center time to explore building, sorting, and early literacy in meaningful and playful ways. It has been really amazing to see my students use their imagination and create using these materials. One notable moment was watching one of my students build the characters from Number Blocks using the magnetic cubes! \r\n\r\nOne exciting thing that we were able to do with the materials from this project was create snow clothes magnets. I printed out pictures of snow clothes, laminated them and stuck magnets on the backs. Students then used them at the magnetic board to practice the order of which to put snow clothes on which was a fun way to practice. We even made magnets with students' faces on them so they could have even more fun with it. \r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the materials, their excitement was immediate! They were eager to touch, test, and explore what stuck and how the pieces worked together. Many students jumped right into experimenting, discovering how magnets connect, repel, and support their creations through trial and error. The few magnetic toys we had in the classroom prior were always a big hit so having many more for my students to choose from has been amazing! \r\n\r\nThese materials have become an important part of working STEAM and literacy lessons into center time in a meaningful way.
