Before receiving your funding, my corded glue guns created significant issues in the classroom. Students had to wait for my assistance to manage tangled cords. Our upper grade students now have access to a fully equipped modern glue center to create their cardboard project prototypes without being tethered to a wall outlet. Students have finger cots and spatulas to press and shape hot glue materials without any direct contact with heat. This has significantly reduced safety anxieties for sure. Our tables are protected with the silicone mats and it's definitely made glue clean up a lot easier. The Wiggle Wobble chair feet and bouncy bands are a great addition to our classroom for those students who work better with some movement. The wobble feet were especially a big hit. Students can move back and forth or side to side to get some movement and help keep them focused. Other teachers who have sat in chairs with the feet have commented on how great they are! The band is also wonderful since students can kick or bounce their feet on it, but it is so quiet that other students don't notice or get distracted. \r\n\r\nThe Amulet books were a great addition to our book collection. The group that was reading the series could not wait to read the last book. Their enthusiasm for reading was apparent in their faces and how they immediately sat down to start the book as soon as I handed it to them. They also requested more books by the same author. It is so great to have a complete set of the series, and I hope to get more by Kazu Kibuishi. We are currently using the tools during our maker and engineering projects, where students in 4th grade design pet robot prototypes out of cardboard. It brings me so much joy to witness students cutting the thick cardboard with ease, and it has made a huge difference in their independence. The chop saw has helped students cut precise pieces of cardboard quickly, especially for the 5th graders, who must create a shoe to program and create a pedometer and its parts, like the shoe's tongue. Students are able to assemble their shoe pieces and test their ideas. Having access to proper cutting tools has helped them take their designs more seriously and with confidence to experiment with more complex designs.
