We are a Title 1 school, and had not been able to retain a permanent librarian. Books and authors that are crucial to the collection were completely missing. It is my first year as a school librarian, so I have been making all possible efforts to collect books wherever and whenever I can.\r\n\r\nOne of the hooks to get our boys reading is the \"I Survived\" collection, as I've noticed them getting more interested in history by the fifth grade. This collection combines fictional characters with historical events that intrigue them, such as the attacks on 9/11. Students began checking them out as soon as I put them on the shelves. We only had one copy of the very first \"Harry Potter \" book in that series. When our new series arrived, it was packaged so beautifully that the outside spines formed a complete picture when placed in order. Some of my girls were so entranced by its beauty that one of them took out the first three books and another girl took out the last two books. It turned out that she already owned these books, but wanted them because they were so beautiful and brand new. Her mother returned them!\r\n\r\nOne of our third grade students with social emotional needs was thrilled to see \"Pete the Cat\" holiday books on our special exhibit table. He checked out two books each day and then came back to get two more until he had read them all. I ran out of time to get the children's permission forms to be pictured, so the pictures attached are of the books that we received. Again, thank you so much. These books will impact our students enjoyment of reading for years to come.","fullyFundedDate":1758838849538,"projectUrl":"project/help-rebuild-the-library-collection-at-o/9718358/","projectTitle":"Help Rebuild the Library Collection at Our School!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Mardre","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10264389"},{"teacherId":1336794,"projectId":8919588,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous support of this project!\r\n\r\nMy students love taking their breaks in the quiet corner and enjoy the comfortable seating.
