Reading is vital to the development of students minds, imaginations and creativity. Students can always find adventure and/or a friend within the pages of a good book. Sometimes we read pages and chapters together as a class and sometimes students pair up and read to each other. Reading out loud is different than reading to yourself and it's an important skill to have. \r\n\r\nReading opens up a world of possibilities by taking readers to new settings in time and place. My students are so great at finding figurative language in books and identifying similes and metaphors or examples of idioms or personification. Some of my students love to read aloud and use different voices or add lots of expression to character dialogue.
