I teach social studies, not PE. I explained that we would be using them to practice mindful movement and different calming techniques through yoga and breathing exercises. They were hesitant at first but ended up loving the experience and learning how to manage their stress. I am now hosting \"Wellness Wednesdays\" where I invite students and faculty to practice yoga afterschool. It has become a wonderful community where practice mindfulness and we support each other. \r\n\r\nThe next step is to teach students to lead some of the breathing techniques and strategies so they can share what they learn with their communities. I was able to participate in a workshop led by Breathe for Change over the course of several weeks this summer where I gained skills in how to facilitate workshops focusing on social-emotional learning. These workshops can be geared towards children and/or adults and are intended to be conducted in school communities. I was also able to get certified as a yoga instructor which will allow me to share the joy of practicing yoga to help others learn skills to be calm and manage stress.\r\n\r\nThe highlight of this experience for me was getting to connect with so many educators around the country who are like-minded in believing in the power of yoga and breathing techniques to change the way people manage stress and mental wellness. The technology you have provided is making a significant impact on our students' learning. It has enhanced their engagement and understanding of complex subjects through interactive lessons and hands-on activities. The most exciting aspect for our students is the ability to explore and create using the new tools, which has sparked their curiosity and creativity. They are now more eager to participate in class discussions and collaborate on projects. This technology has truly transformed our classroom environment.\r\n\r\nOne student, in particular, has shown remarkable progress. Initially shy and reserved, they have become more confident and enthusiastic about participating in class, thanks to the interactive features of the new technology. This student now takes the lead in group activities and helps peers with their assignments. Your contributions are truly making a difference in their educational journey, fostering both academic and personal growth.\r\n\r\nAdditionally, our class has thoroughly enjoyed using the iPad, colored pencils, sharpener, anchor charts, and post-it notes. These resources have made our lessons more vibrant and interactive. The iPad has been a fantastic tool for research and educational games, while the colored pencils and sharpener have brought art projects to life. The anchor charts and post-it notes have been invaluable for organizing thoughts and ideas during group activities. Students are now more organized and expressive in their work, and they look forward to using these materials every day.
