They immediately started using them to move around the room, find comfortable learning spots, and complete their work with more independence. The clipboards have made it easier for students who prefer working away from their desks and have encouraged more flexible seating and movement during lessons—something they genuinely enjoy and benefit from.\r\n\r\nWe also received magnets that have already made a big difference in our daily routines. Instead of picture examples and visual aids laying flat on tables or getting misplaced, we can now display them clearly on our whiteboard. This has helped students follow directions more easily and stay organized. For me, being able to quickly hold up anchor charts during lessons has made instruction smoother and more efficient. Everything feels more accessible and visually engaging.\r\n\r\nIn addition, the new organization bins have transformed the way we manage our math supplies and STEM materials. Students can now quickly find what they need, and cleanup has become much faster and more structured. The bins help maintain a cleaner, more organized environment, which allows students to take greater responsibility for their materials and workspaces. It has created a more independent and student-centered classroom.\r\n\r\nOverall, we are extremely grateful for this generous donation. Your generosity has brought high-interest, age-appropriate nonfiction texts into our room, and the impact has been immediate and meaningful.\r\n\r\nWith each issue, students are learning essential reading skills such as identifying the main idea, using text features to locate information, analyzing cause and effect, and building their nonfiction vocabulary. These magazines give my students the opportunity to practice close reading using texts that connect directly to the world around them. The articles also spark rich classroom discussions about science, social studies, and current events—topics that help students become curious, informed readers.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom now looks more interactive than ever. Students annotate their articles, highlight key details, and engage in partner discussions. They love using the diagrams, captions, and bolded words to help them understand what they're reading. On \"Scholastic News Day,\" the room is filled with excitement as students open their magazines and dive into new topics together.\r\n\r\nSome students who typically struggle with longer texts have shown remarkable enthusiasm for these magazines. One student in particular, who often felt overwhelmed during reading time, now proudly volunteers to read aloud and share facts he has discovered. Others enjoy taking their magazines home to reread with their families, showing a level of ownership and pride that we hadn't seen before.\r\n\r\nYour contribution has done more than simply provide reading materials—it has strengthened confidence, sparked curiosity, and given my students access to the kind of engaging nonfiction experiences that help them grow as readers and thinkers.\r\n\r\nThank you for believing in our classroom and investing in our students' learning.","fullyFundedDate":1758864697002,"projectUrl":"project/third-graders-take-on-the-news/9734536/","projectTitle":"Third Graders Take on the News","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Ramirez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9692493_orig.jpg?crop=2316,2316,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1724191758367","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9692493"},{"teacherId":19994,"projectId":9881619,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous donations. Twenty little voices gasped in unison as they spotted the pristine storage system against our classroom wall. \"Is that for US?\" one student exclaimed, eyes wide with wonder. They immediately began claiming their spaces, carefully placing their tiny backpacks and colorful lunchboxes into their very own cubbies. What struck me most was watching a usually quiet student run her hands along the smooth surface of her designated locker, then turn to me with the biggest smile and whisper, \"This is mine.\" That sense of ownership and belonging transformed our morning routine instantly. Before, backpacks piled haphazardly the table, jackets slipped onto the floor, and lunchboxes played hide-and-seek under tables. Now, each child knows exactly where their belongings live. I've watched their confidence grow as they independently manage their personal items, developing crucial organizational skills while feeling the dignity of having their own dedicated space in our classroom community. One morning, I observed a student helping a classmate find the perfect spot for an oversized winter coat, problem-solving together about how to fold it just right. These small moments of collaboration and independence happen daily now, all because they have a space that's truly theirs.\r\nThanks to your generous contribution, you've given my students more than just storage—you've provided them with a foundation for responsibility and self-management that will serve them throughout their educational journey. Your support allowed us to create an organized, respectful environment where even our youngest learners can practice independence. When the wobble cushions first arrived, the excitement was contagious, and students could hardly wait to open the boxes. The best part was that they got to pump them up themselves! You would've thought we were inflating balloons for a party with how thrilled everyone was. Even now, weeks later, students still ask if they can be the ones to pump them up when they need more air. It's become one of our classroom jobs and turned into a fun little responsibility that gives them ownership over their learning tools.\r\n\r\nSince introducing the wobble cushions and fidgets, I've noticed a big difference in how focused and engaged students are during lessons. The gentle movement from sitting on the cushions helps them stay alert, and the fidgets provide a quiet way to channel extra energy. Students seem more comfortable, more attentive, and overall happier during work time. At the end of each day, they take great care to neatly organize the cushions and fidgets, making it clear they value having these tools in our classroom. Thanks to these resources, our learning environment feels calmer, more focused, and full of positive energy.\r\n\r\nWe are so incredibly grateful for these wonderful resources and for the generosity that made them possible. The fidgets and wobble cushions have truly transformed the atmosphere in our classroom, giving students the tools they need to feel comfortable and confident while learning.
