Your generous donations made it possible for us to add sky-themed light covers, a cozy string of lights, a new reading game, and a wobble stool. My students were immediately excited to see the new materials. They especially loved the softer lighting and the chance to explore the new reading game together. The wobble stool has been a huge hit—especially for one of my students who is constantly on the move and benefits from having an appropriate outlet for that energy.\r\n\r\nWhile the low lighting helps create a calm, soothing environment, it can also make it a bit trickier for students to stay energized, so we've learned to use this setup selectively depending on the activity. Regardless, my students always light up when something new appears in the classroom, and your contribution made that possible.\r\n\r\nThanks to your support, our next steps involve helping students build strategies to manage their sensory needs while staying focused and successful during schoolwork. The low profile stools are small enough that they fit on the carpet without taking up anyone else's space, and students know they can grab one if it will help them to be for focused. When they arrived, the students also helped to assemble them, which was a fun experience requiring teamwork, taking turns, counting and dividing screws, and using strong hands to turn the screwdriver!\r\n\r\nThe wobble stools sit at my small group table most of the time, but if students are feeling wiggly while working independently, they can bring one over to their table and swap out their chair. These magnetic tiles are a particular favorite and I made sure that they are always available for students.
