Your contribution ensures we can keep our young learners safe, healthy, and focused on what matters most: playing and learning. In a PreK setting, young children explore the world with their hands—and often their mouths—frequently touching surfaces and toys that are shared throughout the day. By funding essential items like sanitizing wipes and cleaning supplies, you have directly provided a barrier against the common cold, flu, and other viruses that can quickly travel through a classroom. A clean, sanitized classroom means fewer illnesses for our students (and teachers), which translates directly to higher attendance rates. Because of you, we can focus on teaching, and the children can focus on being kids—exploring, creating, and learning in a clean environment. Thank you again for investing in our students' health and education.","fullyFundedDate":1778111902607,"projectUrl":"project/help-prek-fight-the-germs/10241893/","projectTitle":"Help PreK Fight the Germs!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Whittaker","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8623142_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1758041426973","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8623142"},{"teacherId":9654916,"projectId":9217085,"letterContent":"I can't thank you enough for supporting this project through your donation! I was thrilled to think we could use them for the 2025-2026 school year!\r\n\r\nSome unexpected circumstances, plus the wonderful welcome of a baby into our family, kept me out of the classroom for much of this year. Our 5th graders are doing a ton of hands-on learning in out Hip Hop unit - we have investigated the tools of the DJ, including a functional turntable, up close, and they are so engaged!\r\n\r\nFor this year, there has just not been enough time to fit in all our music class requirements and also use the materials for this project I have been looking forward to. Your contribution has made a meaningful difference in our classroom, especially for my students in special education. Because of your kindness, we now have access to big books that have truly transformed our read-aloud experiences.\r\n\r\nBig books have had a powerful impact on student engagement. Their large print and vivid illustrations make it easier for all students, including those with diverse learning needs, to follow along and actively participate. During read-aloud time, I have observed a noticeable increase in attention, focus, and enthusiasm. Students who previously struggled to stay engaged are now eager to sit close, look closely at the text and pictures, and join in the reading experience.\r\n\r\nAdditionally, big books promote inclusive learning. All students can clearly see the text and illustrations, which encourages shared participation and builds a sense of community during group reading. My students are more confident in responding to questions, making predictions, and retelling stories. These opportunities support both language development and social-emotional growth.\r\n\r\nI have also noticed an increase in student interaction. Students are more likely to point to words, identify letters, and engage in discussions about the story. They are excited to turn pages, repeat phrases, and participate in interactive reading strategies. These moments are critical for developing foundational literacy skills in a meaningful and enjoyable way.\r\n\r\nThank you again for investing in my students and believing in their potential.
