The materials from this project have helped create a classroom where students can see themselves reflected in their learning and engage with diverse stories, historical figures, and play experiences throughout the year. When the materials arrived, my kindergarten students were immediately excited to explore the books, art supplies, and culturally relevant play materials. Many students eagerly pointed out characters and community helpers who looked like themselves, their families, and people they know.\r\n\r\nOne of our favorite projects was learning about influential Black leaders, artists, inventors, and athletes through read-alouds, discussions, and hands-on activities. Students used the materials to create artwork, engage in dramatic play, and make connections between the stories we read and their own lives. These experiences sparked meaningful conversations about identity, community, perseverance, and kindness. The resources helped make these lessons more engaging and accessible for all learners.\r\n\r\nAs we continue learning and growing, students are using these materials to build literacy skills, strengthen oral language, and explore the world around them through play and inquiry. The resources will remain an important part of our classroom long after Black History Month, helping students develop a deeper understanding of themselves and others throughout the school year. While color ink may seem like a simple classroom supply, it has had a tremendous impact on my kindergarten students' learning.\r\n\r\nIn early childhood education, visuals are essential. Color-coding helps students recognize patterns, sort information, and stay focused during lessons.\r\n\r\nThe most exciting part for my students is seeing their learning come to life through colorful materials. Your contribution ensures we can keep our young learners safe, healthy, and focused on what matters most: playing and learning. In a PreK setting, young children explore the world with their hands—and often their mouths—frequently touching surfaces and toys that are shared throughout the day. By funding essential items like sanitizing wipes and cleaning supplies, you have directly provided a barrier against the common cold, flu, and other viruses that can quickly travel through a classroom. A clean, sanitized classroom means fewer illnesses for our students (and teachers), which translates directly to higher attendance rates. Because of you, we can focus on teaching, and the children can focus on being kids—exploring, creating, and learning in a clean environment. Thank you again for investing in our students' health and education.","fullyFundedDate":1778111902607,"projectUrl":"project/help-prek-fight-the-germs/10241893/","projectTitle":"Help PreK Fight the Germs!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Whittaker","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8623142_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1758041426973","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8623142"},{"teacherId":9654916,"projectId":9217085,"letterContent":"I can't thank you enough for supporting this project through your donation!
