I want to start by saying, thank you so much for your incredible generosity and support of our classroom. Because of you, my students have access to beautiful Spanish books that truly reflect who they are. Your gift has already made a meaningful difference in how my students see themselves as readers in our classroom.\r\n\r\nAs a teacher, I love and value getting to see the powerful lessons books can teach to my students. These new texts are helping my students build essential literacy skills, all while strengthening their Spanish language. Just as importantly, these books validate students' identities and cultures, helping them feel proud of who they are.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom is a joyful, shared experience. Students read independently, with partners, and during small-group instruction. One of the most exciting parts has been our rotating book-borrowing schedule, which allows students to take the books home and read with their families. Students eagerly talk about reading together at home, sharing stories with siblings, parents, and grandparents. This has strengthened not only their language skills, but also the bond between school and home.\r\n\r\nSeveral students have been especially excited about the new books. Some of my English learners who were once hesitant readers now choose to read more often and with greater confidence when the text is in Spanish. I've watched students light up as they recognize familiar traditions, language, and experiences in the stories. Seeing themselves reflected in books has motivated them to read more—and to believe in themselves as capable, successful readers.\r\n\r\nThank you again for believing in my students and for helping us create a classroom where every child feels seen, valued, and inspired. Your support has opened the door to a love of reading that will stay with them for years to come.","fullyFundedDate":1761915921415,"projectUrl":"project/building-a-bilingual-library-of-love/9861690/","projectTitle":"Building a Bilingual Library of Love","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Hall","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8897356_orig.jpg?crop=2870,2870,x385,y2413&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1761608358529","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8897356"},{"teacherId":9258916,"projectId":9078607,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous support of my Donors Choose project, \"Red Alert! For many girls, managing their periods during the school day can be stressful and embarrassing, especially if an unexpected leak occurs and they don't have access to a change of clothes. Thanks to your donation, these students no longer have to miss valuable learning time or feel ashamed—now they have access to clean, comfortable, and discreet clothing that helps them feel safe, supported, and respected.\r\n\r\nIt may seem like a small thing, but to our students, this resource makes a big difference. Your support has made a significant impact on the educational experience of our 5th grade students, many of whom are currently reading at multiple grade levels behind their peers. The resources provided through this grant, including a class set of Wonder, social-emotional games, an interactive globe, comprehension games, and engaging read-aloud stories, have transformed our classroom into a vibrant learning environment.\r\n\r\nWith the addition of these resources, we have been able to create a learning atmosphere that not only fosters literacy but also encourages a love for reading. The class set of Wonder has allowed us to conduct book clubs where students engage in discussions about the characters and themes, helping to develop their critical thinking and comprehension skills. The social-emotional games have been particularly beneficial in addressing the needs of our students, providing them with tools to express their feelings and strengthen their interpersonal skills while learning in a fun and supportive way.\r\n\r\nThe interactive globe has brought our geography lessons to life, allowing students to explore the world as we discuss different cultures and communities. This hands-on experience has sparked curiosity and enthusiasm among students, making learning more relatable and impactful. The comprehension games have provided targeted practice that aligns with their individual learning needs, helping to fill gaps in their understanding and boost their confidence.\r\n\r\nMoreover, the access to high-quality, leveled books has been instrumental in cultivating a love for reading. Students now have the opportunity to hold physical books in their hands, dive into captivating stories, and participate in read-aloud sessions that align with their interests and the curriculum standards. This initiative has not only improved their literacy skills but has also fostered a sense of community and collaboration among them.\r\n\r\nThanks to your commitment to supporting education and literacy, we are witnessing positive changes in our students' attitudes towards reading and learning. They are more engaged, motivated, and excited about their educational journey. This grant has opened doors for our students, giving them the resources they need to succeed academically and personally.\r\n\r\nOnce again, thank you for your generosity and for believing in the potential of our students. Your support is making a tangible difference in their lives, and we are incredibly grateful for your partnership in fostering a brighter future for our young learners.\r\n\r\nSincerely,","fullyFundedDate":1723156827724,"projectUrl":"project/hands-on-literacy/8566502/","projectTitle":"Hands On Literacy","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Branick","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9254921_orig.png?crop=315,315,x22,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1695578865002","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9254921"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_129178","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":894,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":63,"percentAsian":3,"percentBlack":15,"percentWhite":15,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":53,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 8","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":64.3,"schoolId":129178,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Harmony Ridge P - 8 School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Harmony Ridge P - 8 School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/colorado/aurora-public-school-district/harmony-ridge-p-8-school/129178"}
