Through this text, my students practiced skills such as sequencing events, identifying the theme, visualizing, and making predictions. We also worked on vocabulary building and connecting the story to their own experiences and feelings. The book naturally inspires curiosity and imagination—which makes it a powerful tool for developing comprehension skills.\r\n\r\nReading in my classroom is active, joyful, and community-centered. We read the story together, stopped to discuss key moments, and shared our thoughts about the characters and the message of believing. Students then had the chance to reread the book independently and with partners, which helped build their confidence and fluency.\r\n\r\nSome students have connected with this book in especially meaningful ways. A few who are typically reluctant readers were excited to open their very own book and proudly read pages aloud. Others enjoyed sharing the story at home with their families, telling me the next day how they read it during bedtime or showed it to their siblings.
