Which have been amazing for our fast-paced class. The periodic table was extremely helpful during our chemistry unit. We used it during a relay race -- \"Find the chemical name for the chemical symbol...\" The animal cell model was a helpful tool for my students who needed a visual and hands-on tool to understand the different cell organelles. \r\n\r\nWe are planning on building the Solar System model tomorrow. In our low-income classroom, many students don't yet see themselves as college-bound or \"engineering types,\" but this technology has started to gently (and sometimes loudly!) change that story. The 3D printer has helped students understand that engineering isn't just abstract math or something that happens far away in fancy labs—it's a process they can touch, test, and improve. By working through design challenges, troubleshooting prints, and revising their ideas, students are learning problem-solving, perseverance, and creative thinking in a way that feels real and empowering.\r\nOur first project was an introduction to 3D printing where students designed custom necklaces or personalized Chromebook nameplates. They used digital design software to create their own models, and when those designs emerged layer by layer from the printer, the room filled with gasps, cheers, and a lot of proud smiles. The most exciting part for students has been seeing their ideas become physical objects—watching something that existed only on a screen suddenly become something they could hold in their hands. That moment has been truly transformative, especially for students who previously felt disconnected from school or unsure of their academic strengths.\r\nPerhaps most meaningful has been seeing students who are not always the most academically gifted shine in this space. Some students who struggle with traditional assignments have excelled at spatial thinking, design, and iteration, quickly becoming class experts and helpers to their peers. These students are gaining confidence and beginning to see themselves as capable creators and problem-solvers. Because of you, our students are not just learning about engineering—they're starting to imagine futures that include it. Thank you for believing in them and for helping open doors they didn't know were there.","fullyFundedDate":1764617829385,"projectUrl":"project/inspire-future-scientists-with-3d-printi/9923039/","projectTitle":"Inspire Future Scientists With 3d Printing and Essential Supplies","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Warrix","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10361129_orig.png?crop=666,666,x0,y11&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1764011604732","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10361129"},{"teacherId":9887753,"projectId":9945611,"letterContent":"Thank you for supporting our classroom through this project. In a fast-paced photojournalism class, there is nothing more frustrating than a dead battery — and now, thanks to you, our students can spend more time capturing images and less time waiting for equipment to be ready.\r\n\r\nYour donation also helped us build a permanent photo wall to showcase student work. This space has quickly become the heart of our classroom — a place where students see their creativity celebrated and where they can learn from one another's work. Displaying their photos publicly builds confidence, encourages pride, and motivates them to push themselves creatively. It sends the message that their work matters.\r\n\r\nAdditionally, the connection cords you provided allow students to download their own photos directly onto their Chromebooks, giving them greater independence and ownership of the entire creative process — from shooting to editing to publishing. With more than 100 photojournalism students and a dedicated yearbook staff, access to cameras is one of our biggest challenges. We do not have a one-to-one camera ratio, so every additional camera dramatically increases the amount of hands-on time students have to practice, experiment, and build their skills. Your donation directly translates into more opportunities for students to get behind the lens and capture the story of our campus.\r\n\r\nIn a class built around learning by doing, time with a camera matters. The additional cameras mean fewer students waiting and more students actively photographing events, portraits, sports, and everyday campus life. It allows us to cover more activities and give students real-world experience in visual storytelling. For many of them, this is their first experience using professional-level equipment — and that confidence grows each time they hold a camera in their hands.\r\n\r\nThank you for investing in our students' creativity and growth. The resources you provided from the Chromebook chargers, dictionaries, thesauruses, camera lens caps and connection cords, etc. have already made a significant impact on both our daily learning and the quality of our student journalism.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the materials, their excitement was immediate. One student picked up a new thesaurus and exclaimed, \"This is so much easier than trying to find the right word online!\" My digital newspaper students often get stuck when writing trying to find the right word --- so this has been a game changer for them. The joy and sense of professionalism these tools inspired was truly heartwarming.\r\n\r\nA particularly helpful moment came in April during statewide testing. Students were allowed to use physical dictionaries for the writing portion, and having enough high-quality copies in the room made a real difference. Several students commented that flipping through a real dictionary helped them stay focused, avoid distractions, and think more critically about their word choices. It was a subtle but powerful way these resources supported both their writing and their test-taking confidence.\r\n\r\nStudents are using the dictionaries and thesauruses to refine their writing, the Chromebook chargers are keeping everyone connected and productive throughout the day, and the camera accessories have allowed our photojournalism team to capture and transfer high-quality images with ease while protecting the cameras.\r\n\r\nIn early May, a student had an accident and dropped a camera. I'm happy to say that the only thing that broke was the UV lens cover. It did it's job. Had we not had a lens cover on the camera, we would have lost the whole camera as the lens would have busted. The lens cover protected the lens and all I had to do was swap out the cover and the camera was back in the classroom and in the hands of students. \r\n\r\nThank you for giving my students the tools they need to succeed, grow, and find their voices as young journalists.
